Second anniversary

This week is the second anniversary of my Mom's death.

Lots of emotions, but weirdly, the most signficant one is regret that I can't share any of the good and interesting (or just plain funny) things that have happened since she died.

For the first year, I kept wanting to pick up the phone and call her when small, good things happened--buying a new ( Read more... )

it's been nineteen years since i lost my mum and it does get easier... the desire and impulse to tell her stuff does lessen but doesn't entirely go away. i had found in my sisters at times someone to share what we would have wanted to tell mum and that did help although the sister i was closest to died five years ago. it's a heartache that only pangs rarely now although as i have a biblical hope in a resurrection on a cleansed earth, i look at it as more of a leave of absence until i see them again... write things down and do our best to preserve family stories just because they're our legacy to ourselves, our parents, our children and their children...

Thanks, honey, and I'm so sorry about your Mom. Nineteen years...you must have been quite young when she died.

I had a nice long chat with my sister this evening, and it helped with the melancholy.

::hugs::

not all that young, i'm just quite old... i was about 36 then.

your sister is likely feeling the same as you and it's good to connect with people who are close to you and with whom you can share stories and commiserate with... very cathartic. so glad it helped.
::hugs you back::

Thanks, sweetie. Much appreciated!

I just finished up a long phone call with my sister in San Diego, and I'm feeling better.
