That will not be today, however. ;) I don't think I can explain the bone-deep need I have to be on Union's campus right now. If I thought I wouldn't be in the way, I'd beg one of my parents to take me, and if they refused, I'd pay a cab an obscene amount of money to drive me 72 miles. Someone in a comment on a UU alum blog said yesterday that ( Read more... )

How is Cindy doing?

I don't know -- I haven't talked to her or heard from her. I'm not *worried* about her, not her safety or anything like that. I've learned enough about where the damage elsewhere in Jackson is to be fairly certain her house was spared. She's an associate vice-provost, about third in line from the President, so I'm sure she's in the thick of things and not slowing down for anything. I'm not expecting to hear from her at all this week, and possibly not the next. I wish I could hear her voice -- she's the heart of Union for me, but I'm not going to attempt to reach her any time soon. She doesn't need the distraction.

I'll be happy to link it! I'll also talk to John about maybe getting a gift card for a student. That's a great way to help. Is there a Target in Jackson, or just a Walmart? I want to be sure to get something that's there in town, of course.

Thank you! There is a Target in Jackson. I'm sure there's at least one of all those stores he mentioned.

Shari, I'm so glad you're OK! I heard this on the news and wondered if it was anywhere near you.

Gift cards instead of cash is an excellent idea. I'll take care of that this weekend.

The stories just get worse and worse, and the fact that no one died becomes even more miraculous.
