By the by, you know how "mayhaps" is a common misspelling of the word "mayhap"? I tried using it in my writing the other day but just didn't sound as right as "mayhaps" does. Can someone please explain this to me?

It may be the similarity to perhaps that makes "mayhaps" sound correct.
