The excitement starts to build....
I bought a plane ticket last night to Madrid, Spain. I'm going to visit Harper in Austria and combine that with my wish to backpack across Europe. I meant to backpack across Europe when I was younger but I think I can manage. It's good and bad. I think I'm more mature and handle things much better but the energy level isn't quite what it used

Your legs are definitely not in bad shape. Wear a short skirt and carry a baseball bat and you could be No More Heroes' Bad Girl. Mmmm.
Hostels are definitely a good deal - remember we stayed at one in Matsue. You might check out some of the Lonely Planet travel guides; they've always been very good about pointing out budget accommodations.
(BTW, on Windows you can get the € symbol by holding down the ALT key while typing "0128" on the number pad and then releasing ALT.)

No More Heroes is a videogame about an anime fanboy with a lightsabre who becomes an assassin.
Will you get to see the Altamira cave paintings in Spain or Lascaux in France? How about Neuschwanstein in Bavaria? Will you eat wiener schnitzel in Austria? Don't forget to try the beer in Germany and the wine in France, and, oh...everything!

What a videogame! Who came up with that one???
I was hoping to see both Altamira and Lascaux but I may have to pick one or the other. I have to look up maps and distances and such. I plan to try beer in Germany and wine in France! (I wonder if the French are like the Italians. You drink wine with dinner or they give you weird looks! An older Italian lady looked positively insulted when I started drinking soda with my dinner. I switched to wine and she actually smiled and I think felt better about it. Talk about drinking pressure!!)
