Another interesting weekend....

I went to donate plasma. Unfortunately, my arm was not wrapped correctly. I could feel wet and slick going down my arm as I opened the car door. I ran back and got them to re-wrap it. I wouldn't even take my coat off until they had bandages and wrappings. I knew by the amount of wet on my arm that things were just not well.

I took off my coat and there was blood all down my arm in two or three streams. It was now dripping off my fingers and onto the floor. The girl with the bandages looked slightly pale. (I think she may have been new. I know most everyone who works the floor but a newer person just checks people in when they start. She had been at the front desk.)

"I'm sorry. Blood on the floor...." I told her.

She took a pair of scissors and cut off the bandage to re-wrap it. It was like the movie 300 - projectile bleeding. (I guess the bandage keeps pressure on the pinprick from the needle and now it wasn't under that pressure anymore.) The girl stood there for just a moment and then shoved gauze onto it. She grabbed tape to wrap it and pulled off the last inch or so. She had run out of tape. She looked a bit at a loss. I put my finger on the gauze and smiled at her.

"Just stay calm," I grinned, "I'll hold it and you grab a new roll of tape."

She ran off to the back and I didn't like to even think about it... but I did feel a bit... light-headed. I applied more pressure to it but it was getting a bit worse for me and for some odd reason, I was having trouble with focus. She came back with tape and a towel.

"Are you all right?" she asked, "This is quite a bit of blood."

"It's only a flesh wound," I smiled, "I'm just sorry that it's getting everywhere. I'll stay and help clean it up."

I did better having someone to talk to. It helped me focus. When it was cleaned up and my arm was newly bandaged, I asked them to please cover the cost of having my coat dry cleaned. They need to talk to their management but the girl who bandaged me felt they could do that. I told her it wasn't a big deal and I was just asking. I left shortly after.

The cold air outside woke me up and I was able to make a very short run to the grocery store to pick up the rest of the ingredients for beef bourguignon and some fresh fruits for a chocolate dip tomorrow.

Saturday was AWESOME! Only a couple people showed up but it was still cool. I was able to walk Pippin, clean the house somewhat, get the beef bourguignon in the crock pot, and get ready for guests. Fred is breaking into the costume-making gig (his college degree is in drama with a specialty in costumes). He wants to make cute cosplay things and has made a maid costume. He had some interested people in California so I modeled for some pictures.

These are them:

I only hope it helps Fred with his new business endeavor. :-D I also love wearing costumes so that helps....

After my costume pictures, I changed and we watched several Red Dwarf episodes, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, and Satoichi. My roommate, Tracy, also put on this awesome and sexy bustier with red roses in the shape of a heart. It was cool. She looked totally hot! It was a very nice and relaxing time. We ate most of the food (which is great because I hate wasting food!). Everyone cleared out around 11pm and I went to bed. I was tired but I felt great.

I got plenty of sleep and met my family for a Valentine brunch at Hyde Park Cafe in Westgate. It was so nice and relaxing. We all talked and laughed. I gave out some loot and received some as well! My sister gave me another baking dish and a couple spatulas. YAY!! This one looks like a casserole or souffle baking dish and will certainly be used later! I also got some chocolates of course.

We went and saw the movie Valentine's Day and that was pretty cool. A whole bunch of stars in that one and very cute story lines. All these different love stories happening in LA. It was surprisingly cute and funny. Good date movie but not my usual fair. Queen Latifah had a small part in the movie and she was hysterical, hot, and smart. The usual for my hero - Queen Latifah. At the end of the movie, she orders a man on a sex phone call to KNEEL BEFORE THE AFRICAN QUEEN!!!! I couldn't stop laughing. She's so great!!! :-D

As I was heading home, a cold front moved in suddenly and the wind started to howl. I decided not to go see Strider. :-( I've gone almost two weeks without seeing him. I can't wait for the weather to improve. I own a horse. I really do. Someday, I'll be working with him again. I was told that January and February are pretty much the off season for horses so I'm trying not to feel too bad about it.

I ate some leftover beef bourguignon and had a glass of red wine, relaxed in front of the TV, and wound down from the weekend. Fun times.
