An introductory meme that looked fun
Based on one that was quite American-centric, Britishish version created by cmcmck on LJ, I saw it on Gillo's LJ.
1. Marmite- love or hate?
Neither. I don't much like it as a spread on its own but it's useful for adding a bit of depth to a cheese sarnie, and I use it a lot to add umami to stews and things.
2. Marmalade- thick cut or thin cut?
Either. When I make my own it's middle-to-thick because it's too much faff to do fine (though if you use a method where you boil the oranges first it's easier.)
3. Porridge- made with milk or water?
Water. Don't like cooked milk anywhere other than with coffee.
4. Do you like salt, sugar or honey on your porridge?
None of those, usually. I often put cinnamon and some sort of fruit in (sultanas, unless it's a good time of year for soft fruits.)
5. Loose tea or teabags?
Yes.
(I have lots of loose herbal teas and a couple of loose-leaf real teas, and have one of those Bodum insert teapots and also a cup-size strainer; I also have lots of herbal teas in bags, and Earl Grey and English Breakfast ditto. The tea is the important thing, not the format!)
6. Where on your door is your letterbox?
Middle, a bit above knee height.
7. What's your favourite curry?
Hm. I alternate between ordering several. Karahi lamb, perhaps.
8. What age is the place where you live?
A Victorian railway-workers' suburb of a mediaeval town.
9. Where do the folks running your local corner shop come from?
Bangladesh, I think.
10. Instant or fresh coffee?
Yes.
11. How far are you from the sea?
50 miles or so, i think.
12. Have you travelled via Eurostar?
No.
13. If you were going to travel abroad, where's the nearest country to you?
The Netherlands.
14. If you're female (or possible even some males) do you carry a handbag?
No, a rucksack (keeps the weight on both shoulders).
15. Do you have a garden? What do you like growing?
Yes. Herbs, roses, sweet peas, autumn raspberries, geraniums- it's fairly country-garden except for a huge Fatsia japonica.
16. Full cream, semi skimmed or skimmed?
Semi-skimmed.
17. Which London terminal would you travel into if going to the capital?
Kings Cross.
18. Is there a local greasy spoon where you live?
There are three. Also a sandwich place, a coffee shop and a teashop.
19. Do you keep Euros in the house?
Whatever we had last time we came home - it really isn't worth changing the money back.
20. Does your home town have a Latin, Gaelic or Welsh alternative name?
No, it's just called "Sheep clearing" in Old English.
21. Do you have a well known local artist or author?
Yes, a playwright, novelist, critic, essayist and all round good egg who fl. early-to-mid 20th century (not naming because I'm coy of exact locations)
22. Do you have a favourite Corrie character?
No. I don't switch Corrie off instantly like I do EastEnders, but I don't really watch it.
23. Are your kitchen sink taps separate or a mixer?
Mixer.
24. Do you have a favourite brand of blended tea?
No, just whatever's fairtrade.
25. What's in your attic if you have one?
Me (it's converted to a bedroom). In the cellar there's the boiler, and a few bits of gardening stuff that don't mind the damp, and some broken electrical things waiting to go to the tip.
26. If you go out for a cream tea, what jam do you like on your scone?
Strawberry
27. Talking of scones- scon or scown? Jam or cream first?
Scon; jam. (Though I can be inconsistent in both cases.)

Plain or salt and vinegar.
31. If you go to the chippie, what do you like with your chips?
Salt and vinegar, and some of them dipped in ketchup, but the ketchup is mostly for the fish.

Take away.
33. If you have one, what colour is your wheelie bin?
Black with a blue box insert for recyclables, green for rubbish (I know- but the recycling scheme is fairly new, originally the green ones were all there was), brown for garden waste.
34. What colour skips does your local skip hire use?
Blue.
35. Do you celebrate Guy Fawkes?
I tend to wander down the garden and look at municipal firework displays for a bit. Maybe wave a sparkler about.

Soap and water.
37. Do you have a bidet in the bathroom?
No.
38. Do you prefer courgettes or aubergines?
Courgettes (coming round to aubergines a bit, they're good in tempura.)
39. In the 'real world', do you have friends of other nationalities? Which nationalities?
Yes, or at least friendly acquaintances. Portugese, Greek, Russian, American, Chinese. Probably a few more.
40. Do you have a holy book of any sort in the house?
I think I still have a King James bible somewhere. Not sure the poetry's worth the boredom and moral ickiness to read it again.
41. Do you prefer a hankie or tissues?
Tissues.
42. Are you a fan of crumpets? What do you like on them?
Yes. Butter and honey or toasted cheese.

Doorbell.

No

I don't think should is the right word. Some do, some don't, both are nice.
