Super Meat boy is INSANE! It seems the entire IDEA was to make an impossible platformer and from what I can tell, they've pretty much acheived close enough that it doesn't matter. I liked it very much as well as Hedgemony, which looks like Civ Lite but that's not at all a bad thing.

They are merciless, the devs. I stood behind one guy playing along on a level until one of the people who made the game decided it wasn't interesting enough and turned it up to Extreme difficulty. There was blood on EVERYTHING by the time this guy finally beat it, and when the replay happened it was like a pixelated red flood. Everyone cheered, stickers were given out, the guy got his picture taken with the devs by a news guy, TOTAL WIN EVERYWHERE. A completely satisfying experience, even vicariously.

It is full of win. I appreciated the absolute GUARANTEE that you will die, lots, in places where you have died several times before, and then die a few more times at the next bit, and so on. I usually feel an unpleasant sting of insecurity and shame when I get killed in a game, but for SMB it's just part of the process. Makes it totally okay. :)
