I came across this article on msn:

It makes interesting reading. Apparently they've come up with the term bromance for 'A non-sexual relationship between two men that are unusually close'.

There's no mention made of Fraser and either of the Rays from Due South, however ( Read more... )

Do you like the word bromance?

Not really.

My why has something to do with the the word itself sounding bad and that you can't just say really close friendship, or sex partners, or lovers. Why the goofy word?

I just find it interesting that they've tried to come up with a word to describe it. Though really they've just stuck a B on the front of romance.

The term reminds me a lot of some sort of medical substance.

Although I can see the concept.

You are right though I think it goes back to Holmes and Watson.

When I first saw the term and it had the B on the front of romance I figured it was some sort of article about slash. They actually do mention slash in the Professionals one when they talk about the comic strip presents spoof where Bonehead and Foyle kiss and declare their love for one another.

You are right though I think it goes back to Holmes and Watson.

Well they are (I think) the first crime fighting team on which most of the cop partnerships are based.

I think generally speaking the closest friendships will come out of those involving cops because they are facing danger together.
