As you probably know, I am a huge fan of television. I don't watch television passively, and am quite serious about the entire medium as a whole. And so for the past few years, at any given time, I am working my way through a new series. This past week, I've been watching "Oz", the HBO prison-drama that ran from 1997-2003 ( Read more... )

LOL, Oz is the only television series I've ever watched every single episode of, chronologically, from beginning to end! My ex-bff and I would set the VCR to tape it when our families were asleep and covertly watch it in secret. I have such a soft spot for it, though I know it's largely not that great. I love a show that you can laugh with when it's good, but laugh at when it's bad because it's SO bad. Aging drugs! Anything involving Cloutier!
Alvarez may have been totally straight, but there's no other way to describe his thing with Father Mukada other than as a thing.

I'm really happy you randomly posted about Oz, because it gave me an excuse to talk about it a whole lot. \o/

Secretly watching ~grown-up~ shows is such an intrinsic part of childhood. I used to stay up really late watching IFC with the volume turned down. Movies about lesbians! Floppy indie penises!

Father Ray was sneaking him sandwiches! Definitely a THING.

I started writing this up, knowing there was only like a 1% chance that anyone on my flist was interested in Oz. But I am glad now, though! That someone understands when I say IT IS SO GOOD, BUT ALSO REALLY BAD SOMETIMES. Yaaay~
