mine did it to me while I was in Florida. Did you let them know you where going away? Apparently you have to, or they freeze your cards if they spot activity abroad. There should be a freephone number on the back of the card you can call. Mine took about 3 hours to be unfrozen (credit card). My debit card took nearly 24 hours.
yup I went online and registered that I would be travelling to the US and Canada and the dates and had a confirmation email from them to let me know that they were happy with that.
Thing is they did this to me before when i was trying to pay for my flights for this trip. and I ended up losing the cheaper deal and paying an extra 200 pounds because they decided that someone of my age would not ordinarily order such items online and therefore it was fraudulent activity. Trouble is they freeze the whole account so you can't use your card, withdraw money, or even check your account details online....but they DON'T check with you to see if you are really the one using the card
dimwits I'm all for them keeping tabs, and taking care but not for them making arbirayr decisions without checking.
also...will now probably lose the tickets and photo ops cos they are almost sold out. :(
thanks, me too though I am not very hopeful about still getting the tickets now though they were almost sold out this time last week so I was getting in by the skin of my teeth last night as it was. :(
Geez Louise! That just happened to my (visiting) sister yesterday with her Mastercard and SHE only came here from Nova Scotia! They followed her gas purchases from New Brunswick to Quebec and thought that could be fraudulent.
She only found out because when she got here, she went online to check and they wouldn't let her in! Luckily, the offices were still open, and though she had to wait on hold for twenty minutes, she finally got them and they fixed it recently.
You'd think that they might call your or something FIRST to check with you. I'm guessing that if I take a trip, I'm going to phone them first to tell them I'll be travelling! Sheesh!
