Thursday - The Journey...:
Met Nick and Kim in Central early having not slept. Relaxing train down and we introduced Nick to Anchorman. Simple change at London (aside from random filming) then off to the con. Got their late afternoon, got checked in by an Ibis staff member who was rather awesome and got us rooms together while sorting out other stuff. Met Pinali and we wandered to McDonald's for food, then back to my\Nick's room where general sillyness and tormenting of Nick was had. Wandered down to the Novotel for a but later and chatted about a load of things before retiring for the night.
Friday: - It Begins!:
Nick and I were up earlish, and met up with people and helped set up the games room, which also involved setting up a cupboard trap. Meandered to the station afterwards, where Leita, Tom and Sarah were met and taken back to the con. A small army of us then marched on Pizza Hut for lunch before onwards to Asda for provisions. Back for the opening ceremony - food, drink and the usual games. Nick and I created Hyper Maid Ninja Steve, and Will became a mecha. Lols were had. Lurked around the bar for a bit afterwards. This led to The Pint of Wrong being created, consisting of Guinness, tea, sugar, cider, and a few other things. It was rather sweet and opinions varied
Dancing and fun afterwards and Kim hurting me (I have wounds!) before Sarah, Tom and I headed back to the room (now occupied by myself and Tom) at around 1ish.. Tom was weak and fell asleep almost immediately, Sarah and I stayed up till 4AM singing songs from the Sailor Moon dub. Slightly surreal. My Only Love is a win song. Sleep afterwards.
Saturday - Main Day!
Up early stayed in bed longer than Tom who went to help in the Dealers Room. This meant he got perhaps the one thing I would have killed for, and at a discount. Also the only one at the con. *hate*
A quiz team was assembled and we entered. Did quite well, came an honourable 2nd. The quiz in general was a good laugh. Lurked around the bar area afterwards, played Ouendan and Spiderman Operation, chatted, and had laughs. I have a stalker apparently. Dave, Ishi and I vanished to do some bathroom chemistry at one point. rather nice result. We discovered the Sake tasting and ended up going round twice after Dave learnt of it. More lounging until the Masquerade and Auction. Afterwards we had drinks and a lot of fun in the lobby area. Random remembrances:
- Steve getting his shoelaces stolen and then taken mine which failed.
- Someone I can't remember added Sambuca to my pint of Guinness. This created what was dubbed "A Pint of Sharp". Kazz approved, as did most. Steve fled into the toilets.
- Balloons!
We ended up in Ishi's room for a bit before Tom, Sarah and I headed back to ours. Again Tom failed and went to sleep, we chatted and spent the time exchanging various anime and music. Apparently I randomly fell asleep at some point at which point Sarah left.
Sunday - The End?
Woke up, didn't remember falling asleep. Also there was a 3rd person in the bed apart from Tom. They ran out the door. This may have been a half dream, or it may have been real. I'm not really sure. I was rather confused upon waking up, since I didn't remember going to bed and things like my hard drive had been tidyed away neatly. This later turned out to be Sarah tidying before leaving, meaning the only thing I don't quite know is how/when I got changed. It was an odd first half hour as I worked things out. Meandered round the dealers room again before exchanging more data. Closing ceremony, then we wandered off to the Quayside pub for food.
Cue Win.
We got a nice long table and a side one that fitted all of us (Me, Dave, Tom, Nick, Pinali. Melu, Emy, Kazz, Fez, Sarah, Leita, Loki, Dory, Penfy, Steve, I think) and had a nice meal followed by epic desserts. They kept the kitchen open for us too. Defiantly somewhere to return to next year.
Also around this time a challenge was made. Sarah had a blister from cosplay on her thumb. I was bet £2.50 that I couldn't poke it.
Once back we lurked around chatting for a bit. Sillyness was had with Sarah falling off her chair during the battles spawned of our challenge. Fun was had. Wandered back to our room afterwards. Played Ouendan, EBA, SRW and Stepmania. I won the bet through a sneak attack, ending my run of failure.
Tom fell asleep, Sarah and I stayed up to watch the Grave of the Fireflies live action movie. Its rather win and well done. Only other thing of note was Sarah's blister being repeatedly popped and drained, since it was getting worse and refilling. Not very nice and rather painful :\
Monday - Actual End
Got the train at 8, no problems in London. Kim and I got seats together on the train to Glasgow, so Scrubs and AMV Hell were watched. Relaxing trip back. Got home to find my drivers license and an invitation to a reception at Holyrood House in June.
Basically its been a rather awesome weekend. Got to see a lot of people I don't often see,made new friends, had a good laugh (HAHA! Dave.) and managed to not break the bank. Already reged for next year...
