Am I hearing a laugh track on American Idol? (not that the new judges aren't laughable). I swear, I've heard it three times in the first episode... Anyone?

Right? But when the judges make comments and cut up and stuff, I swear, there is like audience laughter in the back ground.

You mean verbally cut up the contestants? That's a bit sick...

Oh, no! "cut up" as in start joking around (with each other or the contestant - usually it is not funny at all, really). No one is mean to the contestants any more now that Simon is gone. If in doubt, they just let them through. It's pretty weak, actually. I did appreciate his critical ear...
