You know, I don't think I've seen you write Ukoku before, but he really was brilliant in this, as was Hakkai. The dialogue and the imagery fit the setting perfectly. I like how you played around with the idea of whether Ukoku could see or not, and how Hakkai ends up realizing that he's not really as much of a self-made man as he'd thought.
I've written Ukoku before, but ony as a secondary character in this. It's an AU. It's also the best thing I've ever written, but not because of Ukoku... http://sharpeslass.livejournal.com/28804.html
Read it, if you can look past the initial pairing. I think the AU makes it all okay. I'd love your thoughts.
This is very sharpeslass, who is on the shortlist with which 58 fans try to convert the rest.
Hakkai reaction to Ukoku's 'conversion' is very characteristic and satisfying.
Most of your readers will know exactly what happened at the end, for the slow minority, can I ask? I doubt even Hakkai could destroy the Muten Sutra. With the lack of remins, did Ukoku get away? Is Hakkai meant to know this, or think he's dead? If Hakkai did destroy Ukoku, did he destroy the sutra (and how's he going to tell Sanzo!)
If it's meant to be a vague ending, sorry to miss the point.
NO, it wasn't meant to be vague at all. Sorry I wasn't clearer. Ukoku used his powers of "nothing" to get far away from Hakkai and probably the castle at the same time. Hakkai knows without a doubt he didn't kill him - he didn't even fire his chi - and that Ukoku escaped undert he cover of the darkness he created. He will very likely be back. As far as Ukoku goes, the ikkou is the ony game in town. They will be seeing him again (sanzo has to get that sutra back, after all!!)
I always admire a well-written and sexy Ukoku, and this is a prime example of just that. I love the sort of teasing affection his words have for Hakkai... for reasons that may be one thing and may be not. This fic is smoking hot, too...

I think that kinda covers all my opinions on you, m'dear. XD As usual, this story was fantastic, I like how Hakkai and Ukoku interact with each other and the imagery and the EMOTION and *melts into a happy puddle* You rock my socks.

(I think I rather expected Hakkai to be faster in the field than Ukoku)
Looking forward to any sequel. And thanks again.
