Saiyuki Valentines Smut Exchange

Feb 17, 2011 10:52

So the Valentines Smut stories are all really great - I think there has been a real improvement in the writing across the board and Saiyuki writers were a talented bunch to begin with. Sadly however, there aren’t nearly as many readers and reviewers as there used to be ( Read more... )

To be completely honest, I'm always a bit reluctant to "ask" for membership in new comms. I always ponder carefully if I really want to or not. Because I'm grumpy like that and I'm not always compatible with demands that I cannot fully understand. And this one, I cannot. A year ago, maybe I would have decided (and in fact, I think I did) to "apply for membership" because I was desperate enough to beg for it, but right now I'm not. So, if after the reveal, the authors decide to post publicly their stories in their journals, I'll read them. If not, I won't be able to, because I've become too lazy to overcome obstacles I just can't understand. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion, I'm just stating mine. Something similar happens with the pressure to leave feedback. I'll leave feedback when the story compels me to leave feedback or when I generally feel like to it. Otherwise, I'd feel dishonest because I'm being pushed to say something when, if left to my own devices, I would have stayed silent. I want that, if someone ever comments ( ... )

No trouble. I was hoping to get some good fics out to folks who I thought might enjoy them - didn't mean to come off as begging for feedback!!

I know you don't. You didn't come off as begging for feedback. It was just a passing comment in your case, it didn't bother me in the least. It's just that I'm already a bit sentitized to that kind of thing. Grumpiness in my old age, I tell you. I was rather thinking of the very comms. Maybe some very shy people will be grateful for the encouragement, but I felt more pressured than encouraged at the time. I even sort of tried to explain it to the mod, but I do understand that my point of view is not the Universal Truth and every opinion is equally valid, so I've never tried to make a crusade out of it.

Sorry to make you think I thought you were begging for feedback or something!

*pets* I'll make sure to find out where my favorites are re-posted after the author reveal and let you know. There is at least one 585 that i think you would enjoy a lot!

Thanks for reminding me what I should do with my long weekend. I keep forgetting this is out there (since I didn't participate this time around because I was busy with other stuff)

Thank you for always letting me participate in spite of my constant issues!! You do a fantastic job. It is a real shame that LJ had to add that stupid facebook policy though, because I feel like the fics got so much more attention when they were housed here.

I hate stupid facebook. I blame it for all of this... I blame it for EVERYTHING. Fucking "social network" my ass. If they aren't already spies for the government, they will be. You mark my words. Facebook is the "Big Brother" of the future and people, like lemmings, are throwing themselves gleefully to its mercy.

I just wish more people were willing to take the effort to sign up with it in order to see the fics, that's all... Then again, it might have nothing to do with location. When I reposted my fic from yuletide, I only got about nine comments, which is down from about 25 on my last Saiyuki fic. I think in general the fandom is dwindling. This makes me very, very sad...

With ref to jedishampoo, I really suck at giving comments. Mine is always repetitive and boring like Brilliant! Awesome!

I try, really I do. Yet most of the time, I just know I really liked the fic but I can't explain why I like it. Kinda lame, isn't it?

That aside, I've been so busy that I've only managed to go thru a couple of the offerings. Gotta find time!!! *bangs head on keyboard

Speaking as a writer of fanfic, I'll take a "boring" Brilliant or Awesome any day of the week. Seriously, there are worse words to have applied to one's work. I'm sure you'd agree that getting comments like that NEVER sucks!!
