What do they even mean "is fan fiction the lazy way out?" UGH. I see people who put so much effort into their fan fic and they're not writing because they want to be famous, they're writing because they love the characters and the world and have stories to tell

Oh my god, yes. I got so pissed off at the thingy they put up where "popular" authors were slagging off Fanfiction and I felt so angry. I didn't understand how they thought it was legitimate to say that they're protecting their livelihoods by rejecting fanfiction, because Hello. No one's here to make money. I wanted to send in a strongly worded letter or a petition to get that page taken down, because they're as good as discouraging young writers. I know I wouldn't have dared write if I hadn't known there was a world out there full of people who wanted to write about these books too. Ugh. /rant.
