It probably says something awful about me that I identify most with these sorts of characters. Not in an "oooh, that's entertaining" sort of way but in a "ooooh, I recognize a lot of myself in that" kind of

I feel this way about reading fic. I like a lot of fandoms that I have never seen or read the original source material. After enjoying the fandom version, I'm then reticent to see the original because I'm afraid it won't meet my expectations....or something. I'm not quite sure. But then there are fandoms where I can compartmentalize canon and fandom so thoroughly, that it doesn't really matter.
