Draft Letter to my GP

You know I think you're awesome, and you've been my doctor since I was a teenager, but I have to say I'm pretty unimpressed with your clinic policy

That is crazy! I love my GP but I also like that I can see someone else if I have to. Last time I did I had a bladder infection and she was on vacation. Not something that needs someone that has known me for 10 years.

My clinic has the same policy. Though in all fairness when I made an appointment with her the last time I waited two plus hours. When I tried to walkin when she was away they told me what time to come back and I was on within fifteen minutes.
Its so hard finding a good doctor these days...

There have been times when waiting in the walk-in is faster than waiting for the appointment to happen, but that clinic has been traditionally very prompt with its appointment times. Definitely hard to find a good one :/

You gotta do what you gotta do. It's a shame, but maybe this will help them realise and change policy so others don't have to go through the same.

Actually, I'm pretty confident they will not be changing the policy. I brought this up a few years ago - there was a total clusterfuck that happened when I was pregnant and sick and my GP was on holidays, and then my ob-gyn went on holidays too, and there was that flu pandemic going on. Total disaster - but yeah. I was immunocompromised back then, and that didn't matter to the clinic.

I think that when my doc retires, I will need to try to find a new doc.
