Don't they sort of guesstimate how much fuel you'll use (based on previous usage in the building) and charge you for that? It's an effed up way of doing things, and I remember a local man had to go to the media before Hydro backed down from saying he owed a ton of money for power. In a building that had burned to the ground a year earlier.
It appears that they've put in some "new technology" and we are charged monthly, what we actually use.
In the old house, it was most definitely an estimate.
Even if it had been an estimate though, the former owners were two adults that were never home, and we are a family of four with two cats who are always home (and therefore don't turn the heat down), so I expect our use will be higher than the previous owners' use anyway :/
Did they actually come and read the gas meter? My dad was always adding the the insulation when I was a kid. That pretty pink tempting candy floss looking stuff that is deceptive and evil and itchy and horrid.
They've put in some new fangled thing on the meter that reports to them the reading on a monthly basis. So apparently we are getting charged for what we use :/
There is now some new kind of insulation that is green and less cotton-candy looking - easier to cut. Still just as evil and itchy and horrid though :P
