A/N: My late and lame attempt in dress!David. I enjoyed writing it, I hope you will enjoy reading. ^^
The bus is quiet, which doesn’t happen very often. Patrick is typing something on his laptop, Sebastien and Chuck have gone out somewhere and Jeff is sleeping in his bunk. David isn’t doing much. He’s just standing there, back against the fridge, as he watches Pierre sprawled on the couch reading a book. David just likes looking at Pierre when no one is watching. He likes the way his hair falls in his eyes when he leans over the book, his fingers moving as he turns page after page, his lips curling up in a smile when he reads something funny. He’s sprawled easily over the couch on his stomach, one foot moving unconsciously and David just can’t take his eyes off of him. Lost in his thoughts he doesn’t notice when Pierre looks up from his book and spots David staring,
“What’s up, Dave?”
David feels a blush creeping up on his cheeks, which then suddenly become very red.
“Um... I just... wonder if you want some coffee?” he ends lamely.
Pierre gives him a cautious look and shakes his head. “No, thanks.” He glares at David once more and eventually returns to his book.
“I don’t mind some, actually” says Patrick, not even lifting up eyes from the computer screen.
Sighing, David starts to make coffee for Patrick and himself. He can’t believe he let himself get caught staring. Recently it’s happening more often and David is afraid someone will eventually discover his epic crush on Pierre. David knows that it’s stupid because Pierre likes girls and he doesn’t consider him more than a friend. But when you love someone you don’t think logically at all. And the truth is, David is tired. Tired of hiding his feelings, of sneaking glances at Pierre, of looking forward to accidental touches. He wants nothing more than to have Pierre all to himself. Is it even possible? David sighs once more, puts a coffee mug in front of Patrick and sits next to him on the other couch, knees under his chin and mug in his hands.
He hasn’t ever really wondered if he has a chance with the singer. It always was so obvious that he never would look at David in the same way. But the more and more David thinks about it, the more he’s hopeful that maybe there’s a tiny chance. The only problem is that to find out, he has to show his feelings to Pierre somehow. But it’s not so easy; he can’t just walk up to him and say it straight to his face. Just the merest thought of it causes David’s stomach to twist in nervousness.
Pierre looks up from his book once more and, oh no, David’s just been caught staring at him again. But Pierre just shoots him a smile and David simply smiles back. He wonders if Pierre will say something to him, but he just returns to his book.
David adjusts himself on couch, takes a sip from his mug and gets lost in his thoughts again.

The Halloween show they have in Stockholm is good, very good. As always, they do their best; running along the stage, playing, singing and joking with crowd.
And then it’s time for their last song of the show, “Perfect”. David goes offstage and heads to the changing room. He can feel his nerves get the best of him. He has spent days thinking about how to make Pierre notice him in a different way and he just hit on this idea this morning. It’s very simple and very stupid at the same time, but David couldn’t think of something better. And there he is, stripping from his clothes and putting on a dress. Yes, a dress. Small and black one, a little bit like a French maid outfit, and it looks quite ridiculous with his socks and sneakers. This is David’s idea. If Pierre only likes girls, David will show him he can be a girl too. This isn’t a very mature resolution, but he doesn’t care, because that’s who he is; he can be as much crazy and immature as he wants and everybody will love it. And besides, it’s Halloween today. If anybody is suspicious he’ll just tell them this is his costume.
He’s done at the last minute. When he comes back to the stage, Chuck is already sitting behind the drum set and Pierre has almost reached the end of chorus. David takes a deep breath and when his time comes, he jumps onstage with a big grin on his face.
Pierre’s eyes going impossibly large, he backs up a little, looking at the bassist like he has second head or something. But it only lasts two seconds or so. He knows his best friend and his weird ideas. As for David, all awkwardness he felt previously suddenly disappear. The usual emotions of excitement and carefreeness he feels at shows hit in. He’s all over the stage, jumping and singing, music and fan girls’ screams throbbing in his ears.
Pierre is doing his job too, although at the first sight of David he had gone speechless. He knows the other guy is capable of anything but this is something he has never expected David to do. He’s looking at him with mix of amusement and interest. Because, hell, no one can say the bassist doesn’t look good in dress no matter how strange it is. Thinking about how fun it will be teasing David about it later, he even goes as far as lifting the hem of dress revealing David’s ass to everyone.
The song is over soon-too soon for David liking. He’s offstage first; the level of adrenaline in his veins is slowly fading and he’s starting to feel unsure. Before it all, he thought it was an excellent idea. But now he’s a little ashamed. Pierre was smiling at him when he appeared but was he really finding it funny? Maybe he thinks it’s disgusting , the view of man in woman’s clothes, and he just kept straight face because of crowds. Maybe, in his eyes, David is now that weird, perverted guy? David can feel his stomach tightening and he wants nothing more than hide somewhere.
Sebastien comes backstage, laughing.
“Man, that was incredible! I’ve literally heard the sound of jaws hitting the floor!” He notices the bassist isn’t paying attention to him, face pinched. “Dave, what’s the matter?”
David hears Pierre shouting goodbyes to people and knows he will be here in the matter of seconds.
“I have stuff to do,” he mumbles and just runs away.

Pierre goes straight to the changing room because that’s where he is expecting David to be. Everybody thinks that was another of David pranks but Pierre isn’t so sure about it. Something tells him this time was different; he has to talk to his friend to figure everything out. And moreover, Pierre’s just confused, which doesn’t happen to him so often. He can deny it, even to himself, but the truth is he actually finds David appealing in that hilarious dress. It doesn’t feel right, because David is his mate, his best friend and he just can’t think about him this way. Or can he? Pierre shakes his head but the weird sensation don’t disappear. He has to talk to David.
But when he reaches changing room, it’s obvious to him that his friend is not there. Could he have changed so quickly and headed to the bus without waiting for the rest of the band? But that’s not like him. Pierre asks Patrick about David, his confusion deepening as he hears that he wasn’t there at all. Without second thought, he went off search.

David leans against the wall in some empty corridor. It’s sinking into him more and more, what he has done. And he’s feeling more and more ashamed with every minute. He had thought about it so little that the whole thing was almost him acting on impulse. He can never look Pierre straight in the eyes again. It is so like him: acting first, then regretting. He knows he still has to go back to the bus and face Pierre and the rest of guys. But not now, he can’t do this at this moment. An idea comes to mind: maybe when he returns he can fake sick and go hide in his bunk? It’s stupid, but then... Holy shit, Pierre!
The singer comes around the corner suddenly and David feels his face is turning the deep shade of red. He places his gaze on the dirt floor, and yes, he’s still in the damned dress.
“Here you are!” exclaims Pierre, smiling widely at the bassist, relieved he finally find him. “You’re never gonna stop amazing me.” He punches David in the arm playfully but the other man just flinches, eyes locking to his sneakers. “David, what’s going on? You’ve been acting weird lately. And now this dress...”
“It’s just a Halloween costume” says David quietly. He probably hasn’t been so embarrassed in his whole life.
Pierre just raises eyebrow at that.
“Oh yeah? And instead of laughing at everyone’s reactions as you always do, you are hiding here?”
“I’m not hiding! I...”
“Please,” Pierre rolls his eyes. “I’ve known you too long to believe that. Tell me, what it is?”
David just concentrates on his right shoe as much as he can. “You wouldn’t want to hear that”, he mumbles.
“David, I’m your best friend, aren’t I? You can tell me anything.” When the bassist still remains quiet, Pierre sighs and becomes more serious. “Hey, you have to tell me what’s eating you. I won’t let you go until you tell me. And you know how stubborn I can be.”
Yes, David knows that. He’s also tired and embarrassed and a bit angry. At himself because he did something like that and at Pierre for being so fucking oblivious and not seeing certain things. He’s had enough of hiding his feelings. Raising his head, he looks at the singer, words suddenly flying free from his mouth.
“It’s all for you, Pierre. I just want you to think I’m alluring but I’m not a girl and it’s completely stupid but that’s all I could do and I really can’t help that I love you so much and...” Realization of what he has just said flows over him as he claps hand over his mouth, eyes open wide in shock.
Pierre blinks slowly, eyes never leaving David. What his best friend has said was a big surprise for him and he can’t hide it. David in love with him? How it is possible he didn’t notice it? But then it strikes him. The way the other man always looked at him and turned away quickly when Pierre returned glance. The way he acted around the singer, trying to be near him all the time. The fact he usually flinched away when Pierre touched him. All pieces fall right into place and Pierre has the urge to slap himself for not noticing it before and letting David fall into such a state.
David’s face changes from red to pale, the color seems even lighter comparing to the blackness of his hair and dress. In Pierre’s eyes he looks so disarming, all shy and uneasy. And cute. It feels so wrong but Pierre really can’t help it, and maybe even doesn’t want to. But he want to make up to David for it all. No one could resist him at this moment. So Pierre just steps closer, grabs David’s chin with his hand and places his lips on David’s. At first nothing is happening, there are just two mouths pressed against each other. But after few seconds Pierre moves his lips softly against David’s and feels the other boy responds eagerly. This isn’t similar to any other kiss Pierre had in his life. David’s lips are soft and smooth and it feels so good to touch them. Hi smiles into the kiss, his hand moving up to tangle in David’s hair while he licks his upper lip, asking for entrance.
“Wait,” David gasps, trying to back up a little and failing; there’s no room behind his back, only sturdy wall. So he remains like that, face centimeters from Pierre, and God, that’s hard. He wants nothing more than return to kissing his best friend but he can’t do it. Something is not clear here and he just wants Pierre to explain why he did that.
Oh my God. Pierre. Kissed. Him. Kissed. In the lips. For real. David fights the urge to pinch himself because he’s probably dreaming.
Instead of it, he asks:
“Pierre... Why did you do that? I though you don’t swing this way.”
Pierre is staring at him, so intently that it almost burns. Why he did he do that? He can’t find an answer for this question. For all these years he went only for girls and he had never considered any guy as appealing. It doesn’t seems like it would change. But as he stands there, he got this uncontrollable urge to kiss David again. It was the first time for Pierre to kiss a boy and he doesn’t sure what to do. David keeps looking at him, confused, with slight hurt in his eyes. And hope. He has to answer him somehow.
The thought come unexpectedly and it shocks Pierre a little bit. Because you are so beautiful and smart and funny and the person who don’t want to hold you and kiss you all the time is most likely fucking insane.
He wants to vocalize his thoughts but words just can’t escape his mouth.
David stands there, waiting for Pierre to answer, and he realizes why the other boy keeps silent. The singer simply didn’t want that. Or maybe he wanted it, maybe he was curious or something, but now he regrets it deeply. He’s only thinking about way to tell this to David without letting him down. But his efforts are useless because David feels like his heart is about to break a little. Not only from the obvious rejection but there is the second reason too. Now, when he knows how Pierre’s lips taste like and how it feels to be held in his arms, it will be much harder to just walk away. But David is a good friend and he doesn’t want to keep Pierre in such an embarrassing situation. Shoulders slumped, he just hangs his head trying to push him away and walk past him.
Before he can make even one step, Pierre grabs his shoulder, using his other hand to force his chin up. When the bassist’s eyes lock with his again, he says:
“That’s right, David. I like girls. But just for you, I’m gonna make an exception.”
Then his lips connect with David’s once more in slow, tender kiss.
Pulling back after awhile, Pierre smiles at the other man, warm feelings spreading softly through him.
“Happy Halloween, Davey.”
