Any other figure skating fans out there watching Worlds?

aisling12, I hope you're watching the ladies free skate...

Because KIMMIE MEISSNER won. Who knew? Although I have to be honest and say that I was pulling for Suguri and Rochette.

I can't wait to see what happens in the ladies event next year. Irina Slutskaya has indicated she isn't retiring just yet (the prize money enables her to cover her mother's medical bills), Michelle Kwan may return for another season or two, and there are rumors that Shizuka Arakawa may compete next year ('07 Worlds are in Japan). Add Mao Asada and Yu-Na Kim to the mix, and the figure skating geek in me is squealing. Though I have doubts about Sasha Cohen continuing on next season.

I've always been one of those diehard skating fans. I know a lot of people dislike FS because of its subjectivity, but if anything, I love it because of that fact. I delight in the garish costumes, the fact that Dick Button harps on pointed skates, and the over abundance of sequins. You'll never find a more appealing mix of high drama and athleticism.

Also? Apparently figure skating is where celebrity looklikes spend their off time. Sarah Meier reminds me of Natalie Portman. Emily Hughes looks like Alyson Hannigan.

And slap a pair of glasses on Patrice Lauzon, and he resembles Justin Theroux. Which is generally a good thing.
