The dress with the love/hate relation ship

Jul 11, 2006 10:57

It seems to be that people either love or hate this dress. Well, I love it and it’s the only real high fashion piece I have. I have some gowns, but this is for sure my most unique piece. We did a lot of different looks. The first half which these are from were the most "high fashion" and later on they get googier. So more to come!

Is it a maternity dress? The second photo especially makes her look like she's nearly full-term.

No, it's a buble dress. Were in fashion in the late 80's early 90's, when this dress is from, and they are coming back onto fashion now. Bubble dresses, skirts ect. Big ballon shapes. Go to style.com to see recent collections. I recommend Balenciaga :D

wow yes I see: this is a good example and the color/pattern combination is striking to say the least. Was there a conscious effort to evoke Charles Schultz's beloved character Charlie Brown?

I guess that the slouched pose of the second photo isn't the best to show off the lines of the dress to it's best advantage.

Overall though it's your usual: a well-done concert of wardrobe/MU/photography to produce a signature style.

I find her pose in the first image to be extremely awkward. The position of her hand is telling of her discomfort.

Now that's not to say that she can't BE uncomfortable, she just shouldn't LOOK uncomfortable.

I agree, she looks rather awkward. It's not the dress, it's the pose.

I really like the dress!

I don't know about the model/dress combo though. I guess I picture someone with a different look wearing it. But what do I know? Just my 2 cents!

The dress, although it's still really not to my taste, is not quite as hideous as I remembered. ;)

That said, I agree that the poses are a bit awkward, especially the 1st.

The second is better, but unfortunately there's an amateurish quality to it that just doesn't do justice to your talent.

And it's not just that it's a plain studion background. I dunno, maybe it's the way it's lit? It almost looks like it was taken by a mall photographer at Sears or something. You can do much better than that!
