Painted in gold and silver foil

This was a depressing shoot that I will probably redo at sometime with a different model. I love the colors, the outfit, the makeup, but the model just wasn’t right. She was too stiff, didn’t know how to get into it and have fun. She comes off as wanting to be FHM/Maxim style but not really knowing how to get there. Not what the MUA and I were ( Read more... )

everything looks so beautiful but, yeah, she doesn't look like she really enjoying it...

everything else is so nice though that i think this concept is definitely worth a do-over...

Yeah, we kept trying to give her various forms of motivation but non of them seemed to click. Oh well. Glad you like everything else though :D

Too bad, the outfit and background etc. all very good. She has great body too but you can tell in her face she was unsure.

Right? The concept wasn't for her even though when it was proposed she really liked the idea. We had two ideas we were supposed to shoot that day and I gave her plenty of opportunities to back out of this one. The whole interaction up to this shoot was weird too so I wasn't too surprised with the end results.

Slap extensions on next victim and show her the Birth Of Venus pic :-)

That was the second one that we didn't get to shoot. D and I were quite happy about that in the end since we now know she would be all wrong. We're looking for miss right though.

your models always have such personality to them and she just doesn't. she's very pretty and everything else is, as you said, beautiful, but yeah, seeing her looking sleepy or bored just isn't really working for me

it's sad, but i look forward to seeing it redone

What did you use for a backdrop here? Something shiny? Or is the floor covered with some other reflective material?

Also, I know its not at all what you were after here, but have you tried any of these in black and white? Maybe cropped tightly?

The floor is reflective mat board. I did look at them in BW, when I do my gradient map overlay there's always a bit of that at the begining. The background looks horrible! It's oddly pixilated.

Hmm. Thats wierd. I would have thought the background would look just fine. Anyway it was just an idea. But regarding b/w in general, have you used channel mixer at all for b/w conversion? Lots more options that way, but definitley not as quick!

I have, but yeah, I like my BW gradient maps. I know a lot of people feel that the chanel mixer gives you better control over the image though.

I actually like number one. Number two is meh, but I think number one could be used. Her neck/head is a teensy bit stiff (almost looks like she's worried about having a double-chin, or like she had a double-chin at one time in the past and got used to sticking her jaw out like that), but the rest of the pose is quite graceful. I don't think the head position really detracts, either.

It may not be what you had in mind, but for me, just coming upon it out of nowhere, I gave it a "wow."

Of course, I'm also a total fan of saris, and that burgundy color of the fabric is just delicious. :-)
