filtering the music

A week or two back, I decided I wanted to shake up my music listening a little bit. Normally when I’m in the studio I keep iTunes in random-by-album mode, going through a smart playlist that constantly rebuilds itself to only include music I haven’t listened to in the past three weeks. For all that algorithms - or rather, their owners - promise, it does seem just as difficult to find new music that really pings. *sigh* Ah well. Perhaps that makes those discoveries all the sweeter, but I could bear a few more of them. =:/

I latched easily onto Studio Killers, but that was a couple years ago. (Do check out the video for Jenny, if you haven't) Since then.. I'm not sure there's really been anyone that's been an Instabuy. That said, I've found a good few interesting bands and tracks ℅ the "What are you listening to?" thread on SLU, including a plethora of tracks from The Coathangers, especially Perfume and Watch Your Back, and I've really enjoyed both the English and Inuktitut versions of The Jerry Cans' "Northern Lights", and various Regrettes tracks, notably the video for "A Living Human Girl".

And the variety on Radio Paradise (NO ADS!) and KLFM (sadly, no relation to Viking horned bonzos burning millions of pounds around the turn of the century, but they serve up some nicely varied stuff out of some nook of ( ... )
