When you have a Mom who never got the memo that three years olds are supposed to be too heavy to throw about, you not only develop a good grip, but you learn to really enjoy it.
Solemnly, almost nobly, Sokka approaches with hands behind his back. He looks at his tiny nieces and their squealing play for a moment, then sits gracefully beside them. His chin lifts slightly and he frowns, as if their activities are ever so below them.
Then he brings his hands out from behind his back to show his newest project.
Someone, apparently, has described a bubble gun to him.
He proceeds to very solemnly and gracefully blow a ring of bubbles around his sister's head.
Mel raises an eyebrow and proceeds to give her brother a dry look that remains steady throughout the time it takes Hana to hit her mother in the head, once for each bubble, and more for the bubbles she misses or that don't pop.
Loo is already trying to prise the gun out of her uncle's hands.
Loo would like to see him try that while she attempts to climb up him. Or is that pull his arm down? And it requires grabbing his arm near the shoulder and pulling while kicking him in the hips, it could be either.
Mel attempts to grab Hana's hands, but grabbing one just means she gets hit with the other. Considering Mel is known to be faster and stronger than most mother's, let alone her own children, you'd think she'd be better at stopping this if she really wanted to.
Ichigo has just come from the farmhouse, in fact. He's discovered that the easiest way to help out here and not make his abilities known is to clean, and (in his humble opinion) he kicks ass at that anyways, so it works well for him. He's leaving the farmhouse, mop and empty bucket carried over his shoulder, when he spots the trio blowing bubbles.
Which, by the way, is a very strange thing to see in a place like this.
"Having fun?" Ichigo is tentative about talking to Mel (the children make him nervous) since their first meeting, but he's been here a while now and he doesn't want to seem like some weird, quiet stranger to absolutely everybody on the farm. He's made his way over but keeps a respectable distance for the moment, not wanting to approach uninvited.
He's not so great at acting casual these days. Or ever.
That's OK. Mel has more than enough casual to share. She swings the racket around towards him, leaving trails of bubble clusters in her wake, and grins.
"Think this is the most fun we've had in ever, right, girls?"
Loo is hovering around her Mom's legs, and offers a wave at the man, before tugging at Mel's arm for more bubbles. Hana toddles over boldly, in case the mop and bucket are toys.
"Um. Hello." Ichigo doesn't really know what you're supposed to say to kids, seeing as he's never spent much time around them and he was one himself for only a few years. He sets down the bucket when he notices her interest, but it's empty and rather boring if you ask him.
"Where'd you find the stuff to make bubbles? Did you make it?"
That's not going to stop Hana pulling the mop out, though. Just in case the end of the mop turns out to be REALLY INTERESTING. Or maybe hiding a toy in there somewhere. The handle clatters to the ground and knocks the bucket over.
"Yes," she says, but she's not really listening.
Mel smirks, and shrugs to both conmfirm and clarify Hana's answer. "The birds found more soap than we're gonna need for a year. "Figged we could spare some for playtime."
Dean likes bubbles. He likes them more in, for example, Jacuzzis, but this will do for the moment.
(although he takes care to park the Impala upwind from them. Detergent is a bitch to get off your car when the water pressure sucks basically everywhere.)
Dean isn't sure about leg-bubbles, but he's quite happy to scoop Loo up so she can blow shoulder-bubbles instead. "Looks like it," he agrees, eyeing Mel's tennis racquet warily. "How you doin', Loo-Loo?"
