He sounds it as well, and that's all Leah cares about. She's chilled and leaning back in the passenger seat, chatting away merrily about anything and everything. There's an earpiece in her ear, of course, but it's on emergency broadcast only so she can chat with Sam uninterrupted.
"You promised to descrcibe any cool views," she reminds him. Because he did, and as strange as it might be to demand desccriptions like this, she's comfortable enough now that she doesn't worry about asking such things of him.
"I did," Sam agrees, remembering really just as she says it. But a quick glance around the scenery has him relaxing again. "And as soon as we get out of Kansas, I will."
See, he didn't forget. You're just in flatland!
He glances over at her and grins. "Besides, we've been talking the whole time."
"I've been talking," Sam protests, just a second before she admits it. He grins at her and shakes his head, eyes back on the road. "Pretty much. That and music."
And car pranks. But he's hoping trips with Leah will be different from trips with Dean.
"Do you want to pick something out? The car only plays cassettes."

Which is totally not the case, as it happens. This is one situation where Leah doesn't dominate the conversation to fill in the silence.
"OK, we've both been talking. That's what road trips are for, right?"
