i can say i felt weird about saying "gay" around my cousins friend because he was gay and shes like dont use that word. So I've been careful but, my friends pixie and his friend are gay so i hear them watching family guy and they say that joke was gay and im like you say that? and there like yeah its not a big deal. It just means stupid. but not the form of men and women. It's all in what people think I think you should just tell her you have friends that say oh thats gay and there gay so to chill out and understand that sometimes ppl arent being offensive to their nature. some people just get shocked over nothing a lot of white kids say nigger but i dont get mad i mean in rap songs its nigga it depends how there saying it most of the time because of stereo types white kids are like.. oh nigga please.. its just like its not bad but its sort of weird to hear it but as an individual you just have to like make someone understand from your perspective and why you said it that way.

One of the great downfalls of verbal and written communication are misunderstandings. It is often hard to transmit an idea or concept effectively though an imperfect medium. Also, I think sometimes we fall out of sync (think of waveforms) with those around us, making it harder to communicate clearly without friction. There's no good solution to the problem other than acknowledgement that it exists...or perhaps telepathy? :)
