Sound Rider Reverb

A collection of things that I'm working on, mostly for UG@ in its entirety. I'm still tinkering with the idea to be honest.

Sound Rider Reverb

Character Name: Kyoku Hatsune
Age: 18
Gender: Female

Sound Rider Reverb

As a Song Rider, Kyoku bears a suit of armor which is created by hypertuning sound and music into a suit of armor, dedicated to fighting the Dischords. As a Sound Rider, Kyoku has to perform and load new songs into each of her belt, and play a chord which will activate a specific set of powers.

Additionally, she has undergone the Harmonization Treatment which has infused her body with pure music, which provides the basics for the Project DIVA technology to transform someone into a Sound Rider. When a Sound Rider transforms, the song is broken down into data, and materializes onto the body as a suit of protective armor, using the music infused DNA as a basis for the song to latch onto. This allows Kyoku to fight hand to hand as well as use songs, both written and spontaneous to inflict damage on the opponent and defeat them by shattering the Noise Core.

It also allows the unique size expansion technology known as Second Wind to activate during giant sized combat, turning her custom Toyota into a robot and then increasing its size exponentially to combat the enormous opponents that stand in their way.

Tuning Form - The most basic power set of the Sound Rider, by playing the opening strands to Nebula, the Tuning Form is activated upon transformation. It boasts a balanced offensive and defensive capability, and requires the use of a Final Song Attack in order to perform the preloaded Musical attack that would defeat a Dischord in its Initial Stanza.

Playing Stargazer will allow for her to control her mecha, which boasts a fairly melee-heavy fighting style armed with a giant axe that doubles as a guitar.

Tuning Form comes armed with several more songs for different attacks.
Hope - A high energy song which sends shockwaves and energizes Kyoku for several minutes for powerful blows. Basically an AOE healing. Can affect other friendlies.
Minus - Using the Tune Guitar, Kyoku fires solid song at the opponent.

Heavy Bass Form - By using the Drum-Speakers, Kyoku shifts forms from Tuning to Heavy Bass. This boasts considerable offensive and defensive capabilities but is offset by a slower speed. However, its attack power is considerable. The main weapons the Drum-Speakers changes into huge gauntlets on either arm. Musical Load for this is Yukkuri Shitteite Ne Instrumental. Final Attack song is Anger.

Heavy Bass has a couple of unique attacks:

The World is Mine - A magnetic attraction attack which drags the Dischord towards her so that she can deliver a powerful blow.
Skyscraper - A power move, using the Drum-Speakers to create energy attacks and basically drop solid sound on the opponent.

Smooth Jazz Form - Using the Trumpet, Kyoku changes forms from Tuning to Smooth Jazz, a speed-based form. This sacrifices much of her defensive capabilities for a mach 1 speed. All the power is channelled into the Trumpet Exstanza which will allow for a lightning fast Sonic Kick. Musical number for this is Sleep Report+. And the finisher for this is Last Night, Good Night.

Smooth Jazz has a couple of unique attacks:

Blaze - A multiple slashing attack which is finished by a powerful musical attack which blows the opponent back with pure sound.
Unused Impulse - A speed attack, involving Kyoku being able to ghost into the Music Dimension and reappear for a attack. Duration 10 seconds.

Dark Forte Form - Like many heroes, there is always a darker side to their personalities. Dark Forte Form is a black-and-silver form of Tuning which greatly amplifies the attack and defence power of the user, but at the exchange of debuffing everyone with what is known as the Banshee's Song, affecting both land and mecha units around them, causing a musical EMP effect. Dark Forte will end after a Final Song, but if the will of the user is strong enough, a Encore Attack can be used which is an expenditure of all power which will result with passing out at the end of the Concert.

Song Load for this form is Lament of the Highborne.
Effect of this form causes a demoralizing feeling to all opponents and an EMP scramble effect to mecha.

Final Song Form - Ballad Form

Performing a moving song, Kyoku can transform from Tuning Form into Ballad Form, the highest power of the idols. Its power to move the masses is injected into Kyoku's very being, and she uses that power to defeat opponents. As it is Kyoku's final form, it requires considerable training, as well as pitch perfect tone which she achieves later in the storyline. It has incredible stats and its weapon is a keyboard which doubles as a blaster. Concert for this is Tautology and the Final Song is After The End for a blaster attack, or Light Song for the flying kick attack. Ballad Form adds wings on Kyoku's back, so that she can fly.

Melodia - A powerful attack which entraps the Dischord or Reverb in a wall of pure song and hammers at them with gentle waves. Also applies a healing AOE to all nearby friendlies.
Like a Rolling Star - This attack is unique to Kyoku Ballad Form, as it can restore the heart of the Dischord, and let the Dischord pass on completely.

Song Rider - The Mech (and the Car)

Song Rider is a fairly light on its feet mecha, armed with a axe that doubles as a guitar. Kyoku can control it from the pilots seat where it uses visual capture to control it, or by remote as she fights on land. A towering machine topping thirty stories, it is meant to battle the giants that the Dischords become after being defeated, and regaining their Second Wind. Several parts can be attached to it, as well as having alt-modes based on Kyoku's Sound Rider form.

Armed with a axe which doubles as a guitar, the weapon itself are interchangeable dependent on the mode that Kyoku has selected in order to fight previously in.

Song Rider tends to stay in vehicle mode, a top of the line car from Toyota and uses Second Wind Tech to grow into giant size. When in car mode, it looks like a silver and blue car with a little muscle under the hood when one pops the top. Like most transforming technology, it has a half-mode where it wraps around Kyoku as a secondary suit of armor before using the size expansion technology to grow to the size it needs to be to fight, encasing her in the mecha.

Song Rider Heavy Bass Mode - Attachments are placed onto it as it hunches over into a sort of ape-like configuration. Using its own robust chest plate as drums, it fights with heavy shaking and drum bongos that attack the opponent with hard music. Song Load for this is Houki Boshi.

Song Rider Smooth Jazz Mode - shedding all but down to the frame, said mecha gains incredible speeds up to mach 2, and has a 1 minute and 30 second timer to defeat the opponent in which is typically enough. Song Load for this form is called Soar.

Shin Song Rider Ballad Form - The Final Upgrade of the Song Rider. Armed with her keyboard the Song Rider takes aspects of all three main forms (Tuning's Attacks, Jazz's speed and Bass's defence) as the three weapons change into a keyboard, and is used to fight with hard song projections. It also has the ability to fly in this form, allowing for the Key-Sword to be activated from this form.
Song Load for this form is Electric Angel.

Character Blurb:

In the city of Hyoushi, an island near Fuso, monsters attack on a regular basis and are repelled by idols. Competitions between the heroes of this city and many others who have come into powers by one way or another is common, and regularly televised. Deaths are widely mourned and heroic deeds are praised. It's here that Kyoku Hatsune has signed up for a new hero project to try out for the idol section of the heroes.

It is here that she is scouted by Ruka, the former super-idol of Project DIVA - Defence Initiative Vs Aliens, to become the next Sound Rider. Kyoku accepts this and is given the harmonics treatment to withstand the forces that being a Sound Rider creates.

Here, she meets her teammates, her seconds, the twins Ritsu and Ren and the senior officer Gershwin. Armed with the Reverb Tuner, she fights as a idol in the VOCAL project, in order to defend against the Dischords and their giant versions known as Reverberations.

Background:

Kyoku was born 3 years before Second Impact happened to two Japanese residents who quickly moved their budding family to Hyoushi in the Fuso Island Chains from the Liberion coastline where Seattle used to be. Growing up in pantsless central was interesting to say the least, though Hyoushi was a mixed chain of nationalities.

Hyoushi itself however was founded on an island where an ancient power was sealed up, and due to Second Impact, trickles of said energy began to flow out and saturate the populace, giving birth to potential heroes of all kinds all with a common theme - song and music. Local competition flourished amidst the heroes and the villains, and contests were being promoted to show their stuff. It was here however that the alien attacks began anew in the wake of the Second Impact, and Dischords rapidly became the new main staple of combat for both sides.

Kyoku grew up watching these fights, and a burning spirit was hammered into her from the small city's Never Give Up attitude. Since age 12, she has been trying out for Hero Status but never quite got it due to her age, fumbling her lines or displaying no latent talent other than a pitch perfect voice.

During this time, her elder sister's fiancee died in an accident, and her sister was hospitalized from the shock. Watching her sister wither away like that was heartbreaking, and soon her sister moved overseas to try and distance herself, but her transport ship was lost en route.

Undaunted, she began to throw herself into music since it was a growing popularity between the Heroes, creating a new sub-genre of hero called Idols. Idols were powerful in their influence for Kyoku as she saw the Concert of VOCAL's top idol up close and personal when she was caught on the battlefield of a Concert when she was thirteen. During this time, the Dischord that was fighting the Idol protected Kyoku from a stray attack, which changed her view on Dischords entirely. Since then she has spent several years training her voice in preparation for the day she may become a idol.

On her eighteenth birthday, she was scouted for Project DIVA, and after several tests, was determined that she was perfect for the new position as Sound Rider. Kyoku accepted, and was given the Harmonization Treatment, an ability to harmonize her body with music and sound, as well as being trained in how to fight with melee and energy weapons.

Personality:

Kyoku is a very energetic character down to the core. She rarely tones her energy down from between her stage personality and her real life personality. A happy girl, she is proud of being a Sound Rider, as it embodies the power to move people emotionally, and protect those who she loves the most. Cheerful and upbeat, Kyoku manages to create the best out of any situation, and won't back down from a challenge. However this is not to say she is a brainless combat wombat by any stretch of the imagination.

When in combat, she has a absolute focus for the Concert, able to sing and fight at the same time, even if its hurting her on the inside to fight something that she believes needs a second chance. She is able to follow orders but won't hesitate to protect a comrade even if it means getting hurt in the end. She believes that love and justice will save the day, and has an unshakable belief in said statement.

To her friends, she is cheerful and energetic. If she believes she has the ability to help someone, she'll do it to the fullest. She has however an ability to sense when someone needs personal space, and will respectfully acknowledge it. She'll often be humming songs when meeting people, hoping to open more hearts to the joy of song.

Against the Dischords, Kyoku feels that they need to be understood, having encountered one early in her life during the First Concert. She is a firm believer that anyone can change, and the way said Dischord reached out to her touched her heart, and she believes the Dischords have hearts just like she does.

Kyoku is also a workaholic, often sacrificing her own personal wellbeing in order to perform at the fullest potential. This in turn often causes her to fumble lyrics at times, as well as fall asleep at her recording equipment. She has even worked to the point of losing her voice at times, something she can't afford to do. But her stubbornness gets in the way of her common sense at times, and winds up getting sick on random occasions due to overwork.

Resonation Locked.

Kyoku held up her wrist as the spiral of musical chords spun around her left wrist and her waist, forming into a belt and a device that looked like a small guitar. "Tune up," she stated as she struck the chord, the sound reverberating across the battlefield.

Tune Up.

Chords wrapped around her body, solidifying into a green and black uniform as a helm snapped into place, a pair of "earphones" appearing to snap around the sides of the helm itself.

Resonation Complete.

"Sound Rider Reverb -- deploying now." Kyoku held out her hand as she summoned a guitar and charged in, swinging it like a reverse lance at the smaller opponents, dishing out a lot of damage real quick as she played a power chord.
