Went to see Elvis Costello in Atlanta last night. Tift Merritt opened and did a decent set, then EC brought down the house. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge EC fan, but I've never seen him live, so I'm grinning like a kid today. The set started out a bit sluggish, but once EC warmed up it was tremendous. A nice set list running through the catalog, some good banter. Highlights: "Here Comes the Bride," "Oliver's Army," "High Fidelity," and that thing he wrote for Cold Mountain, a verse of which he did away from the mike so the entire house had to shut up and listen.
