Yesterday it got so cold that our breath came out in clouds of fog. I was so blown away by this, and also by the fact that the grass was covered by the thinnest layer of frost that made the fields look dusted over with icing sugar. I started pretending to smoke. i like the idea of winter sneaking in on little cat feet! all of a sudden the moon is out by 2pm and at night the dorms are lost in fog. sneaky!

It's from a very lovely poem actually!! The original line goes "The fog comes. on little cat feet." I love how it conveys such cute sneakiness.
And WOW no kidding the moon comes out at 2pm?!?! That's REALLY weird!! (but strangely awesome)
One of the things I really wanted us to do together (when I thought I'd be able to stay in UK till you came) was to walk through fields of stately homes with the sun behind us, like in Pride and Prejudice....

argh walking through fields with the sun on our backs sounds like such a lovely thing to do! i really, really wish we could spend christmas together in england. maybe we can run around fields and gardens one of the summers instead. like in that gorgeous scene from brideshead!
