It's also what classism is about, similarly. Someone who can buy their way out of trouble has a lot more freedom to get into trouble that they can afford to buy their way out of than someone who doesn't. I'm a lot less likely to speed, for instance, because I know I can't afford a speeding ticket. Someone who can afford bail is going to get out of jail a lot sooner than someone who can't, even if they committed the exact same crime, and someone who can afford a better lawyer is a lot less likely to end up in jail in the first place. (And on and on it goes.)
