"Fan" Mail

On a fairly regular basis, I receive "fan" mail. Most of it comes in the form of anonymous letters like the 2 below I just received today. I have enclosed my reply below, it is certainly not exhaustive, but I hope that it helps people reading this to understand a little about where I'm coming from. And whether you agree on or, I respect your ( Read more... )

Thanks for sharing.

I wish one particular Christian gay friend of mine would see your point of view, and cease his self-denial and self-condemnation.

That verse is one of the reasons why i've given up on organized religion, as much as i still continue to love and respect God and Jesus. Perhaps I'm viewing it too simply (and correct me if i'm wrong), but i find it too convenient how some bibles do not specify "homosexual" and latter versions do.

It is also the manner in which the verse is phrased that misleads many (not all) christians to condemn sinner rather than sin in their hearts even if on the exterior, they state otherwise. (ie. "But this verse alone cannot be interpreted any other way....." and then "Ultimately, we condemn the sin, not the sinner."... paradoxical, is it not?) If they truly do not condemn sinner, then please don't judge and even if they feel it is wrong, leave it to the one and only judge who has the right to do so. And for that matter, it's still up in the air the extent of how homosexuality can be a sin.

I notice the lack of mention/specification in "heterosexual offenders" as well.

lol :)

in any case, if we allow religion to come into context of most issues, it will get touchy. ppl who will make use of "teachings" to do whatever they wan... think the Jihat or the Crusade... u mean GOD say u can go around killing ppl? at the end of the day, it's still human's interpretation. hehehe..

but that was when the world was perfect.

if you state that, then God would not have sent his son Jesus to save us and establish the new covenant in his blood.
