Inquiring Minds...

I'm dicking around with the idea of writing a movie script, and so, to that end, a little research... If you would all be so kind, who is your all-time favorite movie (or tv) villain, and why? And I'm not talking slasher-movie killers who have no depth and no motive for doing what they do past the fact that they're evil. I'm talking the guys you ( Read more... )

I'm just about to head out so I can't give you in-depth at the moment, but Hannibal Lecter and the Phantom of the Opera (although he's not always portrayed as a villain) would be my favourites.

Hands down, Cylons. The human models from the new 're imagined' series.

I love to hate them, but I hate to hate them, and sometimes I even love them. I find myself really excited when we get to know more about them. BSG is always walking the fine line of squeezing sympathy out of their viewers when it comes to the Cylons, whilst simultaneously reminding you that they want to kill all the humans, succeeded in almost obliterating the human race already and have Evil Evil Plans (that we are unaware of).

I'm watching and suddenly realize, I feel really sorry for the Six kept in the brig on Galactica. And I love Athena Agathon and I'm rooting for her, but hey, really, they're CYLONS oh my gods they're CYLONS! They're the ones who engineered the massive horrible attacks on the Twelve Colonies, and they continue to pursue the humans, and they're even trying to get to Earth, too!

Plus, there's something myyyyyyyysterious going on with that Six on Galactica, she's a bad guy even to Athena and Hera somehow.

And why did I feel bad ( ... )

Does it have to be a fictitious person?

Because I find killers with Cults Of Personality very interesting. Jim Jones, David Koresh, that Hale-Bopp dude, Charles Manson...

And then there are guys like Richard Ramirez, who despite being obviously a whackjob managed to make several female jurors fall in love with him.

But if we're going for fiction, then I'm nominating Kevin Spacey's masterpiece in Se7en.

Wow, this is almost too easy and really hard. So many bad guys, so few spaces to write. So, Hannibal Lecter is number 1. Beyond him, in order, Kaiser Sauze from the Usual Suspects, John Doe from Seven, Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange, Amon Goethe in Schindlers List and to even the list out Annie Wilkes in Misery. I would say Jack Torrance in the Shining, but he wasn't himself that day, he was altered. Does that help?

In real life, there are so many. I would argue they are better to research (and you better than anyone know I have the literature to back this up). I find truth in this respect MUCH stranger than fiction...

You and me both. So much has happened in so little time, ectopic pregnancy which went very poorly, boss on the verge of firing me (then having that same fate returned on him) you name it.

Jesus H Christ! Is there any way an ectopic pregnancy can go well?! And what happened with the boss? Why was he on the verge of firing you? And how did it end up that he got fired instead?
