The Smith Legacy: 3.3

We return to a dark, isolated room on the outskirts of Eden, as we are wont to do. There sits a focused scientist, Sylvia Kittredge, working on the latest development in what might be her most successful endeavor yet. She, along with Michael Carver, created a more than humanoid Servo--Jane Smith--who could reproduce and live as any other sim would. They sent Jane Smith alone into the world to create a legacy for herself. Three generations later, Jane Smith now long dead, her legacy lives on, but things have gotten much more complicated...

Sylvia looked at their new product, sitting there as stony-faced and still as Jane Smith herself once had. "Perfect," she breathed to herself, admiring her handiwork once again. No one would ever suspect their new model to be a robot. She and Michael had taken DNA from Leya and Tyler Smith, the alien twins born of Clay Smith, and had infused their genetics with Jane Smith's original genetic code to create a more powerful robot. Well, a hybrid now, what with the alien genetics involved. The scientists were surprised to find how easily they could wield the supernatural genetics. Perhaps it came from all their time working in Strangetown.

And so came Dora Jones...

...Evan Jones...

...Lisa Jones...

...Ramir Jones...

...Damien Jones...

...and Adrienne Jones.

All six were created with the same purpose: to find the Smith family and to mate with them. Easier said than done.

Back in inner Eden, Norris Lew and Caitlin Smith were doing some mating of their own...in the just friends way! Norris was still very much in love with Roxie and the couple was still going strong. Now, Caitlin did have a bit of a crush on Norris, but he was a handsome, gentlemanly young boy and his type seemed to run rare in Eden. Caitlin loved Roxie and she liked Norris as a friend too much to come in between them. Still, it was a little odd how she never wanted to hang out with Norris when Roxie was around...

Norris didn't seem to find anything strange about that. He hung out with many people from the main Smith line--and the rest of his relatives as well, for that matter. There was no mistaking it--the Smiths had officially taken over Eden. They basically founded the town. It was nearly impossible to go anywhere without running into a Smith. Family was important to most if not all of them, so whenever one Smith spotted another relative, they always made time to sit down and talk. Or, in this case, go to the local game corner and play some games together.

Back at the main Smith house, Caitlin exhibited her true artistic talent by taking on the honors of painting her mother's portrait for the family's urn display room. It felt strange to Caitlin, but she knew it had to be done. It was extra weird that she would be the one to do the portrait; it would be her art and brushstrokes that would immortalize her mother in the most important room in their house. It was a great, eerie responsibility. Caitlin just tried to focus on doing her best with it.

Jasper was focused on doing his best at his job. He was a Family man, but he knew that having a job and maintaining a high position was one of the most important things a Family man would have to do, so he took full advantage of the opportunities offered to him. He eventually made it to the top of his career path!

But just as quickly as he made it to the top, he sunk to the bottom. It seemed his best wasn't good enough. Thanks to an honest mistake, Jasper lost his job and thus, one of his scholarships for college. Jasper eventually moved on and applied for another job, hoping for more success there.

In other news, it was time for Clay and Cassidy to age up! Their children could hardly believe it. Ten kids--most already in college, endless promotions, a very successful marriage... They'd done a lot in their years and there was still so much more life left to go! Clay could only imagine what being a grandparent was going to be like! Cassidy was just excited to finally be able to lay back and watch her children take the wheel. She'd done a lot of hard work as a mother (especially with those quads!) and she'd more than earned it.

The birthday party, as Smith parties always were nowadays, was a bit of a family reunion, but even though most Smiths loved their fellow Smiths, not every Smith applied to this notion. Kaleb Leelaporn, for example, didn't get along with most people, but it was the fact that he didn't get along with his own cousin Ara that really rubbed the rest of the family the wrong way. This movement of hatred and aggression also worried the scientists. If the Smiths were going to start fighting each other and treating their own family like the enemy, then how could they protect one another if people were ever to start attacking them for who they were?

Anyway, Cassidy aged without starting a third world war. Creating the more quintessential elder image, Cassidy tied up her long, wavy locks into a tight bun, but she kept her proper, regal look about her. Cassidy was happy to say that she could look back on her adult years with pride and she wanted to carry that same pride into her elder stage. With the amount of poise she had, it didn't seem like that would be a challenge at all.

Clay also aged rather well and kept his preppy look. He was also very proud of his adult years and was excited to spend his last few years with his large family and his loving wife. It had been a really, really good life.

Things were going well for the Smiths. The siblings didn't fight as much--presumably because they'd matured since all of them were well into their teenage (or young adult) years--and there didn't seem to be much drama in the house. Roxie was perfectly happy with Norris; the two spent quite a lot of time together. When Roxie was home, Norris was bound to be not too far behind and when she wasn't home, she was probably visiting Norris at the Lew household. They were a cute couple, everyone had to admit, and it was great that they could find such a well-matched love so early in their lives.

Of course, there were others who wanted a love like that. Caitlin, for example. Despite being a Pleasure sim, Caitlin wasn't really the type to go around. She was beautiful, but had pretty unique looks and wasn't all too confident in her appearance. It was also no secret that Caitlin had a crush on Norris. Well, she thought it was a secret, but her siblings--except for Roxie, it seemed--all saw through her. Phoebe, who had apparently been nominated as the siblings' mediator, was adamant about making sure no drama erupted between Caitlin, Roxie and Norris. That usually meant distracting Caitlin when she tried to corner Norris. It was a tough job (and usually pretty awkward), but someone had to do it.

That didn't mean that Phoebe always caught them, though. Caitlin was pretty sneaky and Norris didn't really seem to find anything odd about being friends with his girlfriend's sister, especially when Caitlin was so nice. He seemed to be pretty oblivious to her come-ons, but one could never be too careful...

No. You could never be too careful at all...

The next night, Roxie left for college, sad to leave the quads and her parents behind, but definitely nervous about leaving Norris behind. They decided to stay together through college and he'd be going to LFT, of course, but she just hoped that nothing would change between them. Roxie didn't want to let go of such a good thing.

That weekend, the quads decided to go out to town on their own. They had never really explored Eden by themselves and it would be refreshing to be single teens out on a sunny day.

The teens decided to go to Lucky Shack Cards and Drink, which had become a pretty popular haunt. They stopped by a little cafe on the way though, and that's where Phoebe met Avri Fuchs. Phoebe thought he was pretty attractive and struck up a conversation with him. Despite the age difference, the two of them got along quite well and although the flirting didn't really go anywhere, Phoebe did manage to snag Avri's contact info, which she planned on using once she got to college.

Fiona found herself her own college man--a college freshman from La Fiesta Tech, actually! His name was Mickey Dosser and he was cute enough. They got along, but Fiona wasn't really looking for anything serious. She just wanted to go out and flirt, Romance sim that she was. Luckily, Mickey was also a Romance sim and understood her motives.

Things took a turn for the worse when the quads arrived at Lucky Shack, though. For reasons no one else really understood, Fiona and Caitlin got into some kind of altercation and had a fight in the middle of the hangout! Of course, this gathered quite the crowd, but it wasn't exactly the kind of attention either girl had been going out for. Fiona, humiliated in public, hung her head in shame for the rest of the evening, but luckily, the four went back home pretty soon afterwards.

Fiona had better luck socializing with her cousins, however! This here is Janet Leelaporn, daughter to Greg and Melody Leelaporn (nee Tinker), making her Fiona's second cousin, really. The family was pretty tight even when it came to extended family. The Smiths were pretty much all about keeping family together. Carver and Kittredge definitely appreciated that; it would help when things got tough, which the scientists were convinced they would soon enough...

Jasper managed to snag another position in the Political career and this time, it seemed to be working out for him. He sure wasn't getting another promotion anytime soon, but at least he had something to keep him busy in the afternoons.

Caitlin found other ways to keep herself busy in the afternoon...

In general, cousins and extended family started appearing at the main house more often! Pictured above, we have cousin Joel Smith in his private school uniform (youngest son of Noah and Nancy Smith) and second cousins (and twins), Leona and Janet Leelaporn. Clay seemed pleased to have constant family reunions in his own living room, at least.

Jasper seemed unable to hold to on to his job for any length of time. It was a good thing that his LTW had nothing to do with a career path.

However, he seemed to be doing just fine in other departments. He'd met a lovely young girl named Maura Bui and the two of them hit it off. Before the end of the night, Jasper had managed to snag his first kiss, first make out and first woohoo from Maura. Since that night, though, he hadn't seen or heard of her.

Not before long, it was time for the quads to go off to college! They couldn't believe it themselves. That meant generation four was fully in swing and in college. The first to leave was Caitlin, followed by Fiona, then Jasper, and last--but not least--Phoebe.

Clay couldn't believe it! The nest was empty at last! He hadn't been in a household without children since the very beginning of college. As soon as Phoebe's taxi disappeared off the lot, he pumped up the music and started dancing with glee! Cassidy laughed at his antics, but she knew Clay was joking. They loved their kids to bits, but it sure was refreshing not to have any of them to look after in the house. Sure, they were a little curious/worried about what the kids would get up to in college, but for now, they'd just celebrate the fact that they had the house to just the two of them.

They bought a pool slide (which, funnily enough, their kids didn't get to go on before leaving for college) and played in the pool. Basically, Clay and Cassidy acted like little children and had the time of their lives. They were out enjoying the weather and doing whatever they wanted whenever they pleased. What could've been better?

Unfortunately, the fun and games couldn't last forever. Cassidy's age had just crept up on her, and before either she or Clay realized it, it was her time to go. Grim was unrelenting despite Cassidy's protests. She just wanted a few more days alone with her husband. Still, she was glad for the time that she did have with Clay. They'd been the best days of her life.

"Cassidy's been my favorite spouse so far, surprisingly," Kittredge said as she watched Cassidy's urn be moved to the attic. "I hadn't expected much from her and was a little worried when Clay was so attracted to her. But she... She was a damn good wife and an awesome mother. I don't think we could've asked for better."

Carver only nodded in agreement. Cassidy had certainly been a wonder.

Clay missed her terribly, of course. Instead of celebrating his truly empty home, he dreaded it. The ghost of Cassidy lingered everywhere. He cried all the time and cursed whatever destiny had decided that he should live longer than his wife. Everything felt so unbalanced without her by his side. But Clay knew that he'd have to move on. Cassidy would've wanted him to truly enjoy his own last days and mourning his wife, as much as he loved her, wouldn't exactly guarantee that.
