The Smith Legacy: 4.0

Sylvia Kittredge stared at the large TV screen before her, an unreadable expression upon her face. Michael Carver could already feel trouble stirring in the cogs in Sylvia's brain. He sighed.

"What now?"

"We have an alien as our heir," Sylvia whispered. She continued to stare at Tyler as if she had never seen him before. Carver did not catch on to what Sylvia was trying to get at.

"And?"

Sylvia narrowed her eyes at the screen. "This could mean a bit of trouble for us, Michael. This really could."

Back at the Smith house, this aforementioned alien heir had no real worries. He was excited to be back home and represent his family as the fourth generation's heir (without his twin, sadly), and had no idea that the color of his foreign skin could stir up real trouble for the Smiths. Besides that mysterious kidnapping (which no one really investigated), his skin color hadn't really made him stand out from others. Tyler Smith was really just a normal guy and he planned on keeping it that way. All he wanted from his genie--the last wish available for the Smith family--was a little luck finding love.

But as it turned out, Tyler didn't really need help in that area. He had Zoe Santander wrapped around his finger already. She'd been his fling in college and he liked her the most out of any of the girls he'd fooled around with. He was eager to get his heirship rolling and wanted Zoe to be a part of that.

Zoe seemed to have no qualms about this and excitedly accepted Tyler's proposal. Then again, she didn't really know what it meant to be a legacy spouse--she'd only heard rumors. Still, she really did love Tyler and was honored to know that he felt just as strongly about her as she did for him. It really wasn't a hard choice at all.

Custom for legacy spouses, Zoe received a makeover; she cleaned up quite nicely. She had her first dinner with Clay, Tyler's aged father, and Clay definitely approved of Zoe as Tyler's fiancée. He was happy to see his eldest son so happy and was confident that Tyler and Zoe would carry their legacy name with style and grace. In a few ways, Zoe even reminded Clay of Cassidy, which made him sad and nostalgic for his late wife, but which gave him hope for the next generation of Smiths as well. Cassidy had been an excellent, hard-working wife and mother and she had done her best and more--there were no words for how much Clay both missed and appreciated her.

For their wedding, Zoe and Tyler had a cute ceremony in daylight. They had a small party, keeping it to Smith family members only, but the party itself was a blast. Tyler was just happy that he had found a wonderful woman to settle down with so early in the game. He knew that some legacy heirs had trouble settling down, but he was ecstatic and very excited for the days to come with Zoe by his side.

The party ended on a great note and as their guests headed home, Zoe and Tyler headed off for their honeymoon. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was perfect for the two of them and that was really what mattered.

Delighted in his son's success as an heir so far, Clay was more than happy to spend his last few days as a carefree elder, dancing the hula to whatever was playing on the radio these days.

Of course, as with most things, these carefree days couldn't last for long and soon, it was time for Clay to cross over into the afterlife. He was sad to leave Tyler behind, so fresh after his marriage to Zoe. Clay had really wanted to be there for at least the birth of his first grandchild, but he was also glad to be able to join up with Cassidy again. Either way, Clay had been a more than fantastic heir for the Smiths and had truly enjoyed his time with the living.

Clay went off to join the league of Smiths that had passed away in the secret urn room on the second floor. He would be greatly missed, but also greatly admired. Kittredge and Carver both admitted that although he'd been a surprising choice for heir, he had easily wormed his way into their hearts and proved that he was more than capable of carrying the family name. Tyler certainly looked up to his father and hoped to emulate him in his job as heir.

But after his father's death, Tyler's job as heir seemed more daunting than ever. He'd been hoping on having Clay there to mentor him and show him how it was supposed to be done. He wasn't close with any of his aunts or uncles (the ones that were still alive, mind you), so Tyler didn't have any elders there to guide him. What happened to the family name was now solely up to him and Zoe--what a burden to be placed upon this young heir's shoulders!

As if that stress wasn't enough, Tyler and Zoe also to deal with protecting their home from burgulars in the middle of the night!

Luckily the brunt of the responsibility for keeping their home safe landed on the local police force! It seemed that the same officer who loved to shut down the Smiths' rather quiet and awesome parties was the same officer who could quickly take down a potential thief before he managed to get his sticky hands on any of their prized possessions! Never had the Smiths been so grateful for this officer. Their legacy didn't end with the family line--their heirlooms and belongings were also a part of the bigger picture.

As for the family line, however, it seemed a new chapter was opening. Zoe was pregnant with the first of generation five!

Her pregnancy passed quickly and without any major trauma--which both pleased and worried Carver and Kittredge. Did her lack of pregnancy stress mean the strength of the Smith lineage was running thin or was Zoe just a stronger candidate than past spouses?

The scientists would not be able to tell without further experimentation, but for now, they were satisfied with just observing the Smith family from afar. In any case, Zoe gave birth to the first of generation five--a lively baby boy by the name of Sid. Sid Smith, welcome to the world. He had Zoe's eyes, Tyler's hair and a skintone close to his grandfather's.

With one working parent, one stay-at-home parent and one small baby, life in the Smith household passed quickly and without incident. Soon enough, it was baby Sid's birthday! Neither Zoe or Tyler found it necessary to throw a party, so only the two of them gathered for the small celebration.

And so baby Sid aged, looking more and more like his mother with age.

Zoe was a Family sim and so she took to maternity quite naturally. Sid was always pleased to be picked up by his mother and held in her loving arms. Zoe was more than content to stay at home--her lifetime want was simply to reach her golden anniversary with Tyler, a more than attainable goal--and she was quite grateful that she didn't have any working duties that took her away from Sid.

But domesticity did not make Zoe a boring woman at all. She was quite daring and wasn't really afraid of much. She was bold enough to go out into the Smith's pool in the middle of winter in nothing but a vintage swimsuit.

And Zoe found other ways of entertaining herself! She loved spending her down time with Tyler. The two were clearly madly in love. Zoe secretly harbored the want to have ten kids, but even she knew that wouldn't happen in reality. Tyler himself had come from a big generation of Smiths; he wasn't really willing to have a house bustling with kids again. Still, Zoe loved kids and she loved their kids. She hoped Tyler would be open to having more than three, at the very least.

Still, what an environment to be raising children in! With three generations of ghosts floating around them, the Smiths and their kids were always susceptible to ghost attacks! The ghosts hadn't been very rowdy before however, so they figured they had little to worry about...

What they really needed to concentrate on was Zoe's health. Her second pregnancy was considerably harder to deal with than her first, which made Carver and Kittredge reconsider the strength of Smith DNA. They had done tests on both Tyler and Leya, and the combination of their alien and robotic genes should have made for some formidable genetic material. It wasn't really surprising that Zoe was having some difficulty carrying this child. The scientists just hoped that she'd be able to carry the baby to term--what an upset in their experiment it would be if the Smith babies were too difficult for a mortal to bear!

But surely enough, Zoe had her first pop and finally, her pregnancy was showing! Zoe herself had not known that she was pregnant again (although the signs had been all too obvious to the two scientists, who now knew to look for them), and had just attributed her recent fatigue to running around after Sid. But this Family sim sure was looking forward to having another beautiful child.

Between looking after Sid (Zoe) and keeping up a good profile at work (Tyler), the couple somehow managed to fit in time to entertain company, something they both apparently liked to do. The Smiths had always been a friendly and popular brood, of course. Besides, they lived in a rather large house, currently filled with only three people (and another on its way)! It was nice to have some new faces pop up every once in a while.

Of course, there were moments in the Smith household that the couple would prefer their company not to witness...

"...Oops."

Zoe turned absolutely red with embarrassment as she let out a few more bodily fluids than she meant to in the presence of company. Tyler let out a short squeak and gasped while Sid tried to avoid the sudden waterfall. Perhaps something needed to be done about the ghosts before things got out of hand.

The incident was either forgotten or simply not mentioned when Zoe was ready to pick Sid up and bring him to his birthday cake. The party was in full swing and Sid could not have been more ecstatic to age.

After his son grew into a child, Tyler thought it was a completely appropriate time for him to play the piano in his work outfit.

Meanwhile, Zoe was going into labor!

And that was how Zoe gave birth to little (and green!) Alaska Smith, the first girl of the fifth generation. Alaska had Zoe's red hair, Zoe's eyes and Tyler's green skin. Zoe was happy to have a daughter, although she loved her son with all her heart.

Speaking of Sid, he was totally prepared and excited to be Alaska's big bro, but until he was old enough to actually take care of her, he was going to busy himself by building his skills. Chess proved to be quite a challenge for him though.

To absolutely no one's surprise, Zoe was pregnant for a third time.

It was nice to know that the romance had not fizzled out of her and Tyler's marriage though. In fact, all the Smith couples had spectacular marriages thus far--even after Addison's small upset with infidelity, he and Jane had stayed together and worked so well with one another. It was truly a blessing, considering the way most families ended up these days.

Alaska's birthday crept up on the family and if Zoe hadn't been such an attentive mother, the little tot might've ended up aging up all on her own!

Either way, she aged well and looked more like Zoe as she grew. Alaska had Zoe's Little Mermaid-like vibrant, flowing locks and looked like an incredible mixture of her parents. Zoe was ready to spoil her little princess rotten.

Sid was just happy that Alaska was old enough for him to interact with. He thoroughly enjoyed playing with her and from the get-go, these two had an awesome relationship--certainly a refreshing turn from the many sibling rivalries of Tyler's generation.

Zoe's pregnancy continued as most do. It was easier than her last one, for sure.

Zoe was certainly not complaining. Although she looked rather large in size, she still remembered the exhaustion her pregnancy with Alaska caused her. She was not eager to revisit such times.

Time passed otherwise without incident. This generation was a quiet one for the Smiths, especially with so few people inhabiting the main house. This worried Sylvia Kittredge more than anything. She could feel something brewing--as if this were the calm before the storm. Michael Carver told her to stop worrying and simply to enjoy each event as it came, just like the Smiths were doing.

And although something continued to nag at her in the back of her head, Sylvia couldn't help but admit that the Smiths were the happiest they'd been in a while. What more did they want besides a peaceful life?

Sid aged well into teenagedom. He chose Pleasure as his main aspiration with Knowledge as his second, but he did not have a clear lifetime want from either. His hobby was cuisine and his personality read 10/10/2/4/6, making him a strong Leo. Sid found that he was charmed by sims who wore cologne and had blond hair, but did not like hard workers.

After some of the birthday excitement had died down, Zoe thought it was the best time to go into labor!

Sylvia and Michael were pleased by the lack of multiple births--they did not want a large brood inhabiting the house anytime soon either. Zoe gave birth to a single girl--Miss Amore Smith--who looked like a clone of her older sister, Alaska.

Now that he was truly old enough to look after his younger siblings, Sid took his position as an older brother twice as seriously. Even though he didn't have any Family aspiration in him, he really did like taking care of Alaska and Amore when he could. Zoe more than appreciated the extra hands around the house; Tyler could rarely help her with the kids because his job as a Criminal Mastermind tired him out so much.

At least he was never too tired to show his wife how much he loved her!

Still, as tiring as it was, Tyler loved his job. He had achieved his lifetime want before elderhood and that was something to be commended. For such a good guy, he really did make a great criminal.

Tyler had only imparted good qualities onto his children, of course. Sid was honestly the best big brother he could've been, even volunteering to pick up birthday cake duty for Alaska on her birthday!

Alaska aged elegantly, looking every part of the princess her mother treated her as.

The Smiths weren't quite done with birthdays yet, however! Soon it was time for Amore to age as well.

While she didn't share her older sister's flowing locks, Amore had her own red curls and looked just as beautiful. Zoe was very proud of her brood.

As puberty hit Sid, he realized his interest in the opposite sex. His first target of affection? Danielle Leelaporn, his second cousin. (What is up with that kind of stuff in this game?) Sid tried to play it casual by attempting to impress Danielle with his billiards skills. She ended up beating him, but he took it well.

The attraction seemed to be mutual, because Danielle easily agreed to going out with Sid. If either of them realized their distant relation to one another, neither brought it up. Kittredge and Carver, back at the lab, were a little more vocal.

"Why does this keep happening?" Carver cried, frustrated with their creations. "They live in a city bustling with people--people they aren't related to. Why can't they find any of those people to mate with?!"

Neither Danielle nor Sid could hear the cries of the scientists however, so they continued on with their affair. Sid managed to snag his first kiss before the date was over.

Needless to say, that wasn't the only first he managed to snag before the two were through...

Once the couple returned to the house, Alaska teased the two endlessly through a game of Don't Wake the Llama, constantly calling Danielle Sid's new girlfriend, a claim which he neither denied or confirmed. Danielle kept a firm sly smile on the entire game, so who really knew what was going on between them now?

The next morning, right before school, Sid managed to set what would've been the family's breakfast on fire. Perhaps he was too busy daydreaming about Danielle...

And that's where this update ends! Sorry it's a tidbit uneventful; I was just itching to update! Trust me, it returns to a plot very soon--either this generation or the next. I'm really quite excited for it. Anyway, thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed yourself. (:
