Picking up where we left off three years ago, Sid is still busy chatting up Danielle Leelaporn. Don't be fooled by her new haircut--it's the same lady charmer as usual. The setting might look slightly unfamiliar though. That's because Sid's not at the main house! He and Danielle get along so well that he even goes over to her house every once in a while.
And lo and behold, they actually do activities other than sucking the life out of each other's faces! While the scientists still weren't comfortable with the idea of second cousins of the Smith clan getting it on, it had already happened with other members of the family, and Sid and Danielle's relationship was quite cute, even if neither of the teens wanted to put a name on what they had. Danielle was an only child, and so it must have been fun to have someone her age around, especially someone as dependable as Sid. It wasn't as if Carver or Kittredge could really interfere with the romance anyway.
Still, there were some things the scientists just couldn't wrap their heads around.
"Did we program high sexual activity into their genetics without us knowing?" Sylvia cried aloud, exasperated. After the high fertility crisis during the last generation's time at college, any kind of romantic activity with the Smiths made her pretty antsy. The family had already taken over Eden's population--if they kept it up at the rate they were going, there wouldn't be enough room in the neighborhood for anyone!
Back at the main house, no one seemed particularly occupied with thoughts on overpopulation. Instead, they were celebrating little Amore's transition into childhood! She was such a precious green bundle in her dad's arms, but Tyler was excited to see his last little tyke start walking around and heading off to school in the mornings.
Amore grew up well and kept her Molly Ringwald inspired curls. In the picture above, she doesn't look too thrilled about her age transition, but she was pretty keen on heading off to school with her siblings and making friends outside of the house. The life of a toddler is pretty limited.
When Sid wasn't away with his boo thang, he was concentrating on his studies. His lifetime want was to become the Education Minister, which meant that he'd had to do well in school. Being part-Knowledge sim meant that he was extremely motivated to do so, and to be an Overachiever. He had to keep up those good grades in order to keep an afterschool job. In the end, it was all about college scholarships. He loved spending time with Danielle, but he knew he had to sort out his priorities sometimes too.
Once he was doing well enough in school, Sid tried to find an afterschool job. It was pretty common for Smith kids to be overachievers, as it not only gave them a boost in college scholarships, but it gave them something to do after school. As large as their house was, and as many things as they had to do in it, anything could get boring if you spent hour after hour, day after day, doing the same things.
Zoe understood that. Since Amore was no longer a toddler and didn't need her 24/7 supervision, Zoe was slowly realizing that it was almost time for her to pull back from being the super-matriarch that she was. She was an absolutely fantastic mother, and had completely dedicated her life to her kids and making sure their family life was nothing short of amazing, and she figured she'd done a pretty good job. The only question was, what was she going to do when she wasn't needed anymore? Luckily, Alaska and Amore were still kids for a little while longer, so she wouldn't have to worry about becoming obsolete too soon...
That didn't stop her aspiration meter from dipping low every once in a while, however. Zoe's lifetime want was to reach her Golden Anniversary, which was completely do-able, but meant that she'd have to wait until she and Tyler were elders to fulfill it. Until then, it was like playing the waiting game and trying to make herself as useful and necessary in the house as possible.
As far as being useful went, Sid was lucky enough to stumble upon an opening in the teen track of the Education career one afternoon. He took the opportunity without a moment's hesitation! Look out, Eden! There's a new playground monitor in town!
There was a silver lining in Zoe not having to constantly look after the little ones anymore. She was able to develop her own hobbies, like keeping a journal, and she was able to spend a little more time with Tyler, who always seemed to be tired from work or helping out with the kids himself.
Of course, Tyler wasn't the only one in the family who got tired. Carver and Kittredge were worried that Zoe was showing signs of pregnancy again, considering how hard carrying Alaska to term had been for her, but it seemed that the mom was just staying up a bit too late. Michelle Starchild, another second cousin (once removed) of Sid's, didn't seem to mind Zoe's occasional drop into her mac and cheese and out of the conversation.
After what seemed like a pretty short childhood, it was time for Alaska to age up into teenagedom! Michelle hung around for the celebration, and glad to stick around for a little more excitement in the household.
Alaska grew up into a beautiful young woman, looking more and more like a mermaid with each age transition. She rolled Popularity as her main aspiration, and Family as her secondary one. Her lifetime want was to graduate three children from college. Alaska's pre-destined hobby was science. Her personality stats were 10/9/2/2/6--only a few points of difference from her brother--making her an Aries. Alaska was turned on by red hair and sims with high cleaning skill, but found she wasn't much impressed by fat sims.
Now with two teenage children and the third approaching teenagedom quickly, Tyler and Zoe felt a little overwhelmed by their family situation. Things were so simple when their kids were, well, kids. Seeing as it was too late for Sid, Tyler zeroed in on Alaska and making sure she didn’t get into any, ahem, trouble before she was really ready to do so. Alaska was a little bewildered by her parents’ sudden overprotectiveness and interest in her extracurricular activities, but she understood that they were just looking out for her, deep down somewhere. Still, she was a newly minted teenage girl, and there were things she wanted to do, regardless of her parents’ warnings or approval.
Still, it wasn’t clear if Alaska was really the one Zoe and Tyler had to keep an eye on. Even though he was deeply in love with Danielle, Sid still hadn’t committed to the young lady, and was still into making friends with his other distant relatives. Michelle Starchild was another second cousin that frequented the main house.
Although she and Sid were good friends, it didn’t seem as if they’d go anywhere romantically. Both Michelle and Sid seemed quite alright with this. Michael Carver and Sylvia Kittredge were also more than okay with this setup. The less inter-Smith relationships they had to witness, the better.
Speaking of relationships, Zoe and Tyler’s was still going strong. They were done having kids, and although Tyler was still regularly working, his work schedule wasn’t as demanding as it had been when he’d been climbing the ranks. He and Zoe were really beginning to enjoy just leaning back and enjoying their age, their family, and their free time. This free time, of course, meant more time to really enjoy each other as well.
“Do you ever feel a bit like a pervert?” Michael Carver wondered aloud without any prompting. Sylvia turned to her lab partner with a perplexed look on her face.
“Excuse me?”
“I mean, we’ve seen like, how many generations of Smiths making out and whatnot with each other. It’s… It’s a bit much, isn’t it?”
Sylvia had never really thought so hard on the subject, and now that Michael had brought it up, she wanted very badly to quickly forget about it. She enjoyed watching the Smiths’ loving moments, but there were some raunchier bits that she could do without. She usually just turned away anyway and focused on a different surveillance point. She advised Michael to do the same.
The family invited the local Headmaster over for dinner to get the kids into private school, and unsurprisingly, the entire visit went off without a hitch. Their home was so large and well decorated that it was enough to impress just about anybody, and Zoe was an excellent cook and schmoozer. Sid, Alaska, and Amore all got in!
Soon after, there were other events to celebrate! Amore and Tyler were both aging up. Tyler threw a party and invited all of his younger siblings, as well as his twin, Leya. Leya couldn’t make it sadly-she was away on vacation with her family, celebrating her own birthday. The thought made Tyler a little wistful-he and Leya hadn’t been able to go to the family vacation house with their younger siblings before, and Tyler still hadn’t been able to ever make it out of Eden, outside of going to college.
Outside of these few small regrets, however, Tyler had led a really fulfilling life and aged gracefully into elderhood. Amore also aged well into her teenage years, ready to join her older siblings in their adolescent hijinks and whatnot.
Amore rolled Romance as her main aspiration, and Popularity as her secondary, with the lifetime want to WooHoo with twenty different sims. Her pre-destined hobby was science, and her personality was exactly the same as her older sister's--10/9/2/2/6--also making Amore an Aries. She was turned on by grey hair and high cooking skill, but was pretty repulsed by anyone wearing full-face makeup.
Speaking of teenage hijinks, Alaska found herself in the arms of Tywon Philips, who was-you guessed it!-another second cousin of the main house Smiths. It didn’t seem to be anything terribly serious, but Alaska did share her first kiss with the boy.
Soon, it was time for Zoe to catch up with her husband and join the ranks of the elderly! Zoe threw herself a party and invited quite an interesting group of people. Sylvia was only partially amused at Michael’s attendance-it was quite funny to see him on the surveillance cameras, but he hadn’t told her that he’d be going, or that he’d even been invited. She kind of bitterly wished that he’d at least asked her to come along too. Making friends with the Smiths was cutting it dangerously close, but Sylvia longed for regular company other than Michael and after watching the family for so long, she really felt like she knew them.
Zoe aged beautifully, and kept the trendy curls she’d sported as an adult, but adopted a more refined fashion for her clothing. While she was totally about accepting her old age, she wasn’t too excited about the ever looming prospect of having to leave her family behind. Her children were so beautiful and the house was so peaceful-her entire adult life had been so lovely, and she didn’t know where she’d be if she hadn’t accepted Tyler’s proposal all that time ago. She still had a lot to look forward to, she hoped, so she tried not to dwell on the bleak details of the future.
Besides, her kids would certainly keep her mind busy! Alaska and Tywon seemed eager to turn up the heat in their developing relationship, and decided to take things to the next level.
Meanwhile, Amore was getting friendly with another second cousin, Nile Bendett, in one of the Smith’s bathrooms, no less. Such a romantic spot! The cold tile and faint scent of cleaning products was sure to set any teen heart beating faster!
Apparently, that kind of thing really worked for Nile…
Like, really worked.
Long after both of their boy toys had gone home, the two green sisters exchanged gossip about their teen trysts, giggling long into the night. The three siblings were all really close with one another, although Alaska was arguably closer to Sid than Amore and vice versa-one benefit of being the middle child. Still, Alaska and Amore shared their dad’s green skin and that was something they got to bond over, and something Sid would never really understand. It helped that they shared a room as well.
Apparently oblivious to the types of activities their teenage daughter had just gotten into in their bed, Tyler and Zoe celebrated their golden anniversary the best way they knew how! The scientists felt very lucky that throughout their experiment, they got to see all of the couples survive and stay strong through grey hairs, creaking backs, and aching hips. It was really a testament to how bonded the family was. As much as Carver and Kittredge wanted to attribute that to advanced robot genetics, it was arguably the most human thing about the Smiths.
Finally it was time for the fifth generation to get rolling on college, which meant that it would only be a matter of time before the Smiths had a new heir! Sid, despite being the oldest, wanted to hang around the main house a little longer and secure a few more scholarships, so Alaska was the first one to head out to La Fiesta Tech. She was really looking forward to college life with her siblings, and knew that whatever happened, they were going to be in for a wild ride.
It seemed that Tyler’s ride was over, however. Alaska narrowly missed witnessing the upsetting event of her father’s passing, and Tyler couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t be able to say a proper goodbye to his eldest daughter. True, he was perma-plat, and he had lived a fulfilling and happy life, but Tyler still wasn’t ready to leave his family! His kids hadn’t even enrolled in college yet! He’d wanted so badly to be there for the birth of his first grandchild, the way his father hadn’t been able to, but it didn’t seem like it was in the cards for Tyler. The scientists watched with baited breath as Tyler pleaded to Grim to spare him his life for just a while longer…
…but it seemed like Grimmy wasn’t having it. Coaxing him along with leis, hula girls, and open bars full of tiki drinks, Grim led Tyler to the other side as Amore watched on, devastated. This generation, the Smiths were a small and close-knit family, and Tyler’s absence would absolutely be felt. Sylvia was sad to see Tyler go, but even with his passing, she couldn’t shake the ominous feeling that something was coming to the Smith family because of Tyler’s existence…
Like the Smith heirs and spouses before him, Tyler’s urn was placed in the secret room upstairs in loving memoriam. He would be missed.
With her sister off to college, Tyler having recently passed, and Sid working hard as ever, Amore really stepped up to be her mother’s support in the house. She seemed to understand more than anyone how Tyler’s absence most affected Zoe, and Zoe really appreciated the time spent with her daughter, especially so close to her college send-off. It wasn’t as if Zoe had a career to distract her either-she had made the Smith’s home life her one priority and pride, and now that her children were getting ready to leave the coop, and with her husband dearly departed, there wasn’t much of a home left for her to look after.
Once she made sure her mother was in a good place, Amore went out to have some fun for herself. The Smiths rarely went out, usually throwing parties at their own home or having frequent visitors come to hang in their pool or hot tub, but Amore wanted to see a little more of Downtown before she shipped off to college. When she got invited to an outing, it was the perfect opportunity.
She went out for dinner with her friends to Bernard's Botanical Dining, and ordered the most expensive thing on the menu for everyone. As far as Amore was concerned, the Smiths had more money than they knew what to do with these days, and if she could, she’d take everyone in the neighborhood out to expensive dinners all week long. In fact, it wasn’t a terrible idea-or a terrible way to make friends. Whether it was because of the free meal or the free-flowing conversation, Amore and her company had a great time out on the town!
Amore even got a little flirting done. She had to admit, the back drop of the glittering city of Downtown was quite romantic, and she didn’t mind the attention one bit.
But Amore wasn’t looking for anyone to take her home. She just wanted to spend some time outside the house, meet some new people, eat good food, and have fun. And so she did.
She even crossed paths with one of the neighborhood Counts-a relationship that Carver and Kittredge kept a close eye on. It wouldn’t be disastrous at this point if another supernatural element was introduced into the Smith bloodline, but they were still hesitant to pack it all in. They still weren’t completely sure what the results of the labs they performed on Leya and Tyler meant, and they weren’t sure they could chance having a robot-alien-vampire hybrid running around Eden without knowing the possible risks of that genetic material.
After her solo night out, Amore decided it was also high time for her to head off to higher education. She said goodbye to Zoe and Sid, climbed into the taxi, and mentally prepared herself for the next big adventure.
With the size of her household dwindling day by day, Zoe had to find new ways to keep herself occupied and entertained. Luckily, the Smiths had a lovely family room full of all kinds of games including pool and Don’t Wake the Llama. As much as Zoe enjoyed playing them, she had to admit they were more fun with more people.
Sid spent the rest of his time at home either at school, at work, or with Danielle Leelaporn. Even though they still hadn’t committed to each other, they were always hanging out and seemed to almost exclusively spend time with one another. They even had plans to keep hanging out in college, but as we’ve seen before with the Smiths, teen plans don’t always work out in college environments. Who knows? Maybe these two could make it.
In any case, all three Smith kids finally made it to La Fiesta Tech. They might be a small year, but if any of the past generations of the Smiths at college is any indication, they are still going to have one whirlwind of an experience. Anyway, it’s time for stats reminders!
Here is Sid Smith, the first born of generation five, and the only son. He is majoring in Biology. Sid is a Pleasure and Knowledge oriented sim with the lifetime want to become the Education Minister. His predestined hobby is cuisine and his personality stats are 10/10/2/4/6, making him a Leo. Sid is turned on by cologne and blond hair, but is turned off by hard workers.
Above we have Alaska Smith, the second born of generation five, and the first daughter. She is majoring in Political Science. Alaska is a Popularity and Family oriented sim with the lifetime want to graduate three children from college. Her predestined hobby is science and her personality stats are 10/9/2/2/6, making her an Aries. Alaska is turned on by red hair and high cleaning skill, and turned off by fat.
