The Smith Legacy: 1.0

Jane Smith arrived on an empty plot of land at around 8 AM on a Monday morning. She knew not how she'd gotten there nor who (or what) she truly was, but what she was sure of was that she needed to found a legacy. Right there, on that huge plot of land. It was basically the driving force of her existence.

So meet Jane Smith, a Family/Grilled Cheese oriented sim whose lifetime wish is to graduate three children from college. Her hobby is cuisine and she's turned on by glasses and blond hair, but turned off by robots. Her personality stats are 5/5/5/5/5, making her a Cancer.

After spending what little money she had left on furniture, Ms. Smith was left with this lovely lawn. She had all the necessities and that was really all she needed--for now. Besides, she knew most legacy founders started off the same way, if not worse. In the days to come, things would get better, she was sure of it. She personally couldn't wait for those days, but nothing could be done.

As the paper hadn't been delivered yet, Jane had no means of acquiring a job so she started on the next best thing: skilling. As a Family sim, she felt compelled to study cooking. Not only was cuisine her hobby, but these skills would help her create fantastic meals for the children she'd have--not to mention, herself! For whatever reason, Jane caught on to the recipes and art of handling food quite quickly. Perhaps it was her set enthusiasm for cooking or something else... Something she didn't know about, but something that two people on the edge of town knew only too well.

The papergirl came about half-an-hour after Jane had situated herself and claimed her plot of land. Jane was unsure of how to react to the newcomer, so she quickly grabbed up her paper and ignored the papergirl completely. The papergirl lingered on the lot for a while longer which made Jane think that perhaps she should have greeted the guest, but by the time she moved to do so, the papergirl was gone. Jane certainly thought it was odd, but she didn't think very long on it. She had a job to find.

With no specific career interest in mind, Jane took up the job with the biggest income. The one available that day was a job in the Military career and though the sound of the work sounded grueling and cruel, she needed the money. Besides, it would be challenging and challenges were always fun.

In a lab on the edge of town, two scientists could be found laughing at the irony that the robot they'd created ended up in the Military career. They hoped she'd do a sight better than those morons over in Strangetown.

But Jane soon proved to the scientists that she wasn't all serious. She had some fun in her and she certainly wasn't shy about it either! Her sole source of electronic entertainment--her stereo--allowed her hours and hours of dance parties! Even if it wasn't much of a party with just her as the lone guest, the music was always popping and Jane had no problems getting down on the dance floor! Er...her lawn, rather.

In the beginning hours, Jane's life was pretty mundane, but not to Carver and Kittredge. They found every simple task she completed fascinating. Jane seemed to be easy-going and competent, something they had certainly wanted in their proclaimed "perfect" robot model. Her motions were fluid and not stiff like most other robots and she seemed to catch onto things quickly. What they were most excited for, however, was to observe how Jane reacted and communicated with humans...

And just their luck! A moment later three lovely neighbors--also known as the welcoming wagon--showed up on Jane's...figurative doorstep. Not wanting to repeat her action (or lack thereof) with the papergirl, Jane practically scrambled out of her seat to greet the three. They introduced themselves as Gilbert Jacquet, Lisa Ramirez and Stephen Tinker.

"Hi. My name is Jane Smith," Jane told them in a crisp, clear-cut voice. The reply was almost strangely automatic, but none of her guests seemed to think anything of it. Not really knowing what to do with the three now, Jane kind of stood around, but her guests soon dispersed themselves around her lightly furnished lot, taking in the wonders of the start of a legacy house.

While Lisa danced to the stereo and Stephen used her bathroom, Gilbert approached her and they started talking. At first, it was a pretty one-sided conversation as Jane tried to keep up with what Gilbert was saying. He sounded excited to have a new neighbor (he happened to specify female neighbor, but Jane didn't understand the significance) and as the conversation went on, Jane also expressed her excitement to be in Eden as well. However, when he asked her where she was from, Jane didn't have an answer. Michael and Sylvia were biting their nails with worry, chiding themselves for not programming her to believe she was from Pleasantview or Belladonna Cove or something--when suddenly, Jane blurted out that she was from Downtown. Gilbert found this interesting but not unlikely and Michael and Sylvia were relived. Apparently while racking her brain for answers, Jane had unknowingly done a search of all neighborhoods in SimLand--she could connect to all sources of information from her head! She was literally a walking encyclopedia.

"So why'd you come out here to Eden?"

Jane shrugged at first. "I need to make a legacy for myself," she answered. That was her ultimate purpose. She didn't know why, but it felt like a life mission to her. Gilbert seemed to think it was legitimate anyway.

"So you'll be looking for a spouse, eh?" Gilbert winked, laughing.

Jane didn't find it funny.

Then again, her humor didn't always seem to match up with everyone else's.

Hopefully that would change as she was exposed to more humans and their types of jokes.

As it was, later that night Jane was invited out by a stranger, as a kind of welcoming into Eden and an introduction to its nightlife. Jane didn't see the danger in going out with a stranger, so she eagerly agreed, excited to observe other people and be a part of the nightlife. Her encounter with her welcoming committee left her feeling a little awkward. She was hardly ever on the same wavelength as them and although they seemed to like her despite their differences, Jane felt really odd. There was something very different about her and the other humans. She couldn't put her finger on it, but it was there, lingering in the air.

When Jane finally met the woman who had invited her out, she felt this weird connection to her. The woman introduced herself only as Sylvia and reassured Jane that she was just a friend. Jane wasn't very suspicious of Sylvia anyway, but she was a little weirded out by the slight feeling of déjà vu she was experiencing. Not that it mattered much; Sylvia basically introduced herself, chatted with Jane for a bit and then sped off somewhere, leaving Jane to her own devices. Some introduction to Eden's nightlife.

Not that Jane minded much. Being a legacy founder, she was used to being alone for long periods of time. But as a legacy founder, she also understood that she couldn't remain alone--not for much longer, anyway. Going out was the perfect way to do some potential spouse hunting. Unfortunately, Rodney's Hideout wasn't very heavily populated that night so there weren't many men for Jane to scope out. Instead, she spent her time at the billiards table. Although she was playing for the first time, she seemed to be a natural at it--a result of her advanced intelligence, no doubt.

Sometimes that advanced intelligence wasn't so obvious though. After taking a bathroom break, Jane left her stall to wash her hands and ended up staring at a sign in Simlish for almost half an hour. At first, the symbols were unfamiliar to her and she couldn't make out what it said. But a few moments later, those symbols were being processed in her head one by one and the letters became clear and legible to her. Amazing, no? She still stared in wonder at the sign, unable to comprehend how she all of a sudden could understand it. Things like that had been happening to her all of over the place since she started this legacy challenge...

While it confused Jane, it very much pleased Carver and Kittredge.

A couple of hours later, Jane was set to leave. It had been a fun night even if the person who had invited her out had pretty much abandoned her (Kittredge was secretly spying on Jane from up close, of course) and she planned on making many more trips to Downtown. But right before she was about to go, Sylvia ran into a man who introduced himself as Addison Zhang. They had a relatively short conversation, but it was a good one and Addison even cracked some jokes, which Jane understood right away and laughed appropriately to. They hit it off very well and Jane was almost reluctant to go home, but she was getting pretty tired and she had to go to work early the next morning.

On her way to the payphone, Jane ran into an odd looking man, whom she recognized as a wizard. He didn't look very frightening or anything, but he did manage to conjure up some cockroaches before she left the lot. Jane wasn't sure she wanted to associate herself with this man so she was grateful when the taxi arrived quickly. Sylvia was also glad Jane hadn't talked to the wizard--Jane was supernatural herself. Introducing other magical bloods into the gene pool could have had catastrophic results so early in the legacy. "Perhaps in later generations," Sylvia mused to herself. She was beginning to wonder what a werewolf and a robot hybrid would end up as...

That night Jane spent her first night on her legacy plot, sleeping soundly beneath the stars. Michael and Sylvia were amazed at how quickly the robot went to sleep, but it was expected. Despite her humanoid traits, she was still a robot at heart and so going to sleep would pretty much be like an automatic power down. There were so many little extraordinary things about Jane Smith and the challenge had only just started.

A few hours later, Jane was up and off to go to her first day at work and earn her very first paycheck. She was excited to find what this Military work involved, but she was also hoping for a promotion--waking up this early everyday would probably get very tiring very quickly. Or so she imagined. Things actually went really well on her first day and while she didn't come back home with a promotion, she did come back with a significantly better employee report! A promotion in the works, basically!

Other things in her life were moving along as well, it seemed. Addison was strolling by her house one day and after recognizing her old (and actually, so far, her only) friend, she greeted him and the two got to talking again. Turned out they had great chemistry. Addison was the one to make the first move, but Jane definitely went along with it. She didn't have any experience with romance, but she liked the way she felt around Addison and he seemed to understand her more than other humans did. She didn't feel so starkly different from everyone else when she was around him. It was an odd feeling to describe for sure. Sylvia was very happy with this progression; it meant a potential spouse which meant they could get working on the next generation. And even though he knew he should have been, Michael just wasn't as excited about the romantic progression as Sylvia was. He claimed he got a bad feeling about Addison. Sylvia just rolled her eyes and ignored him.

The couple did move surprisingly fast (according to the scientists, at least) and were off, er, christening Jane's bed, so to speak. Michael groaned and looked away, claiming he didn't have to look at this. Sylvia just smiled to herself and wondered aloud what it was like to have sex with a robot. Michael made a face. "Why don't we just ask Addison? He'd know."

Ignoring Michael's jealousy, Sylvia wondered if that wasn't such a bad idea...

It seemed that the couple was sticking together anyway, no matter how different having sex with an internally metal object was. Jane did have the typical female reproductive organ though, so perhaps it wasn't too different--

"I don't need to hear this!" Michael interrupted Sylvia's musings.

"Michael, there is no time for such childish jealousy," Sylvia chided him, shaking her head and observing Addison very closely. Things didn't seem to be much different between the couple since their act of fornication, so perhaps her assumptions were correct. They had built Jane to be as human as possible. This was just another success in that creation. "Addison and Jane clearly get on very well. For all we know, he could be her future husband. She hasn't had much luck with many other men, as you know..."

Michael just grumbled something to himself but continued watching the screen anyway. Sylvia sighed and wondered if Michael's weird infatuation with their robot would ever go away. She sure hoped so.

Jane and Addison actually spent a surprising amount of time together. Jane invited him to stay over for the night and two ended up cuddling in Jane's bed. It kind of warmed Sylvia's heart. They had built a robot capable of love and if this wasn't a display of love, Sylvia didn't know what was. "We've really done it, Michael," she told her partner proudly. "We've made a robot human."

Addison left early the next morning and Jane had the day off, so she spent the day skilling, specifically on her exercise bike, the newest piece of equipment she was able to afford thanks to her first paycheck. Watching Jane on the exercise bike was amazing. While she took things slowly and steadily, she also lasted longer on the bike than a normal human could and would. She didn't even need to take a break for food or water and didn't stop until she'd reached her goal for her job. It was truly an inspiring feat.

The next night, Jane invited Addison over again, but he insisted on bringing a friend that he was hanging out with. Corbin was his name and he was very nice and gentlemanly, but he also took up an interest in Jane. Jane didn't seem to notice just how interested in her Corbin was, but Addison sure did as he was cast away to the side while his friend tried to make the moves on his woman. However, Jane only had eyes for one sim and that was Addison, no doubt about it. In fact, she had called him over to ask him if he wanted to move in with her, legacy plot and all.

Addison moved in with her right away, but that wasn't enough for Jane. She wanted the full commitment so she did the next thing her brain told her to and she got on one knee and proposed. He, not really to anyone's surprise, said yes.

After a couple of expansions on the house (which could now be called a shack because there were actual walls) thanks to the money Addison brought in with him, the two got married in their newly renovated bedroom. No need for guests (not that there would really be any, considering Jane didn't really have any other friends); just the two and their love for each other.

"Well...that's the first obstacle out of the way," Sylvia smiled. Michael had no comments.

For the record, here are Addison Zhang Smith's stats: he's a Family/Knowledge oriented sim whose lifetime want is to graduate three children from college. His hobby is arts and crafts and his turn ons are red and custom hair and his turn off is black hair. His personality stats are 4/4/4/7/6, making him an Aquarius.

The next day, however, Addison was already sullying their new marriage! Jane was off at work and Addison greeted a woman who was passing by their house. He didn't know her very well at all, but apparently the two had some kind of connection because not even ten minutes later, they were both heading off to the bedroom!

Needless to say, Michael was furious. "Not even a day old yet and he's already ruined the sanctity of their marriage!" Sylvia held her tongue this time although she was greatly disappointed that Addison would be so unfaithful--and so soon too! The quickness of it just made it even more appalling. Both scientists were glad when the woman left not too shortly after and long before Jane got home.

Addison was going to have to work at controlling his urges though, because the two had a little one on the way now! The scientists were already fantasizing about the genetic possibilities! However, both of them were also worrying about any possible birth defects or other problems with the birth. Of course they hadn't tested Jane's reproductive system completely (as in they hadn't simulated her having an actual child), but they hoped nothing would go fantastically wrong (as in Jane birthing a Servo)...

Time went on while Jane was pregnant though. Addison got a job in the Law Enforcement career so that he too could support their growing family (especially seeing as Jane couldn't go into work because she was on maternity leave). He left early in the morning just like Jane did for her job and he also hoped a promotion so that his schedule would change--not only for his sake, but for the sake of their unborn baby. As Family sims, they both wanted to take great care of their child and be there for it at all times--if they both worked similar hours, they'd have to hire a nanny and frankly, that idea just didn't appeal to either of them.

While Addison was at work and Jane was at home pregnant, Jane tried her best to make other friends. She greeted every person who walked by and tried to entertain them the best she could. Sometimes she was successful and neighbors and townies would stay until at least mealtime, but Jane only clicked with a handful of them. It was just fine with her. She had her Addison and their baby-to-be, so she'd be all set for company.

Jane's pregnancy progressed without much trouble at all. Her needs did seem to deplete a lot faster than usual, but that was hardly unusual for a pregnant sim. The scientists didn't really know what was usual for a pregnant robot, so they didn't have that point of reference... Jane did not have as much morning sickness or incredible discomfort as other pregnant sims though. The scientists weren't sure if this was because of her robot background or just some weird variation between pregnancies. As long as things were going smoothly, they didn't much care either.

Soon enough, it was time for the actual birth. Addison was away at work, so Jane was practically alone in this, holding her stomach and wailing from the most pain she'd ever been in (and ever would be)! One of Jane's townie friends whom she'd invited into her house also happened to be present, but Jane hardly paid her any attention. She was finally having her baby!

And it's a girl! Welcome little Abigail Smith into the world. Named so because Jane's thought process was alphabetical and the girl's name Abigail was the first to pop up. She was the perfect baby and seemed perfectly human, something Carver and Kittredge were both relieved and very glad about. They also took a moment to congratulate each other. The experiment had been successful. They had managed to build a fully functioning robot with humanoid traits--emotions, the ability to reproduce, fluid motion and so on and so forth--with some of the advantages of being a robot--incredible endurance, strength and intelligence--and she had her first child successfully with not one apparent problem. It was truly a scientific breakthrough and the subjects in question didn't even know it.

Jane, perhaps because of her Family orientation, quickly developed a very maternal nature. She seemed to have a sixth sense for what little Abigail wanted and the child never went without. Jane's sleep schedule kind of synced with Abigail's and Jane was always the first to rise and go to her baby when Abigail started crying. It was like watching a protective animal in the wild with her newborn cub. The scientists found it particularly spectacular--they had heard many tales of legacy parents being pretty neglectful to their offspring. Clearly this was not the case in this legacy.

But Jane still needed to pay the bills to ensure that her baby always had a roof over her head and that her family could live comfortably. She was higher up in her job than Addison was and thus got paid more, so more often than not, Jane would be the parent going off to work and leaving her spouse behind to take care of their only child. Although this guaranteed that Addison got some well needed bonding time with his daughter, Jane was always sure to hurry back home and spend some time with Abigail herself.

However, it just so happened that one of the times Jane was away at working getting that dough, Abigail's first birthday crept up! Addison, of course, had to take his baby girl to her birthday cake. He couldn't believe this day had come already--it seemed like just yesterday she was born. The scientists were also a little surprised by the pace but they were also pleased that it meant they wouldn't have to wait long to observe the offspring and whatever advantages they may have inherited from their mother.

As it was, Abigail was a very cute toddler. There didn't seem to be anything unusual or superhuman about her just from her appearance... She did look very much like her mother though, so the scientists wondered if they made Jane's robotic genes too dominant. It would be fine if the kids inherited some of Jane's more bionic attributes, but it would be quite boring if the children were just clones of their mother.

And children was right because Jane was soon pregnant again! Everyone in the family was excited about it. Jane and Addison were both Family sims who wanted a big family (with at least three children that they could see graduate from college, of course) and baby Abby wanted a little brother or sister of her own as well. Carver and Kittredge didn't mind the family's expansion either--that just meant more subjects for them to study, which was always a plus in an experiment.

Jane's being pregnant didn't put a dapper on the couple's sex life at all, something Michael often complained about. Sylvia usually replied by saying that he should grow up, if she bothered replying at all. She was just glad that the two still had a healthy relationship. Jane had never found out about Addison's extramarital affair and Addison hadn't had another affair since that first one. As sappy as it sounded, Sylvia really just wanted Jane to be happy. Was that so wrong for a creator to want?

After a few days of skilling and playing with all her toddler toys, it was time for Abigail to grow up. She had been a very agreeable child--she hardly cried and didn't disturb her parents often. She didn't skill particularly fast, but she did learn how to talk and walk quickly and potty training wasn't very hard at all. Abigail seemed to be a smart toddler, at least. Carver and Kittredge were pleased--as were Abby's parents.

She stayed cute as a child and looked more and more like her mother with each passing day. There was a bit of her father in her smile though.

About a day or so later, baby number two was on its way! Addison was present for the birth for the first time and while he doesn't appear very excited, he was. Not that his presence made much of a difference--partners are generally pretty useless during sim births.

Twins! Addison was useful after all--he got to hold one of the newborns while Jane spun around and gave birth to the second one. Addison's holding his second daughter, named Bailey because Jane was still going in alphabetical order.

Jane's holding Aiden, their first son, named because--you guessed it--Jane's still going in alphabetical order. Both seem to be slightly darker than their mother with her eyes and their parents' brown hair.

The next morning marked Abigail's first day at school and the first day any of their children would be going to school for her parents. It was a monumental day of course, but Abby looked just adorable and charming in her little dress with her bright smile. And she was so eager to learn!

Of course her first report card wasn't perfect, but Abigail wasn't expecting perfect on her first day of school. She did ask her dad to help her with her first assignment though, just to make sure she understood it properly. She ended up doing better with it than Addison did at times and sometimes she had to correct his mistakes! Nonetheless, Addison loved helping out his oldest daughter. Now that his shift at work ended the same time Abigail got home, he had plenty of time to spend with not only Abigail, but Bailey and Aiden too.

Speaking of Bailey and Aiden, it was the twins' birthday time! Time was passing so quickly, it seemed...

Aiden, as expected, turned out very cute and further proved that his mother's genetics were incredibly dominant.

Bailey was no different although she did seem to have her father's nose and smile--at least, more so than her siblings did.

As a toddler, Bailey seemed to take to dancing very much. She would crawl into the living room the moment she was allowed to leave her crib and would spend hours just wiggling in front of the stereo on the floor. While her parents thought it was cute, they also encouraged her to do other activities. It did seem to help her learn how to walk faster, or maybe she was just a smart kid.

Aiden, however, was quite taken with all the tyke toys that were in the house and played with them a good deal more than his twin sister did. He was especially fond of the Rabbit Head and his parents knew he was going to grow to be a charismatic kid. He also learned how to talk faster because of it. Or so they assumed.

Meanwhile, Jane was also having some successes of her own, although they weren't quite so small. She was steadily rising in rank at her job, getting promotions almost every other day! It was clear that she was good at her job and also very well liked. Then again, what else would you expect from a robot...?

The children were incredibly well-behaved and friendly and cooperative--especially amongst one another. Abigail, despite being quite older than her younger twin siblings, always put away some time to spend with them and their toys (which were hand-me-downs from when she had them). The twins also got along swimmingly with one another! While they weren't quite attached at the hip, they did get pretty distressed when they were separated from each other (or from Abigail, for that matter) for a long period of time.

...The romance in Jane and Addison's relationship was still strong...

Or maybe they were just aiming for that big family the both of them wanted.

If they were going for the family, they got it! Jane was pregnant once more and this time, Carver and Kittredge weren't worried one bit. With the past two pregnancies being so successful and smooth (even the twins!) they figured they had no reason to be worried. At this point, it didn't seem like anything would go wrong. Jane was well equipped (and also a lot more fertile than they originally thought she'd be) and a miscarriage was practically impossible for her model.

Life went on for the Smiths and soon it was time for the twins' birthdays--again! It seemed like just yesterday they were turning into toddlers... Both grew up well.

Jane continued to grow bigger as her pregnancy went on. It was probably the hardest pregnancy of all of them, but Carver and Kittredge were still not worried. Perhaps she had just learned what the typical symptoms of a pregnant sim were and now her body and programming were adjusting to that... In any case, Jane certainly spent more time in her bed during this pregnancy. And when she wasn't sleeping, she was eating--sometimes three or four plates of food a sitting!

Finally the day came when Jane went into labor! Once again, she was practically home alone--all the kids were at school and Addison was just coming home from work. He heard his wife screaming and was on his way to help, but Jane had been through this enough times to be able to handle it herself.

Twins again! And with a little genetic diversity! Welcome Callie and Daria Smith to the world. They have a slightly darker skintone than their mother, their father's grey eyes and both of their parents' brown hair.

After the twins were born, it was time for another birthday. This time, Abigail, the eldest child, would be aging into a teenager! It was truly an exciting moment although it kind of made her parents feel a little old. Abby was going to have so many new responsibilities now and she'd be able to do so many more things. Her little sister Bailey enthusiastically cheered her on as she blew out the candles on her cake.

And Abigail grew into a beautiful teenage girl! She was definitely her mother's daughter--you could tell just from looking at her.

With a quick rush to the closet and the bathroom, Abigail changed her looks to fit her personality a little better. She was still very beautiful though. She's a Knowledge/Popularity oriented sim with the lifetime want to become the Hand of Poseidon. Her hobby is science, her turn ons are unemployment and high cooking skill and her turn off is custom hair. Her personality stats are 10/6/4/5/5, which makes her a Virgo and also means she is constantly running around the house, tidying up any little thing. Seriously. It's very Servo like of her...

Of course, robots aren't the weirdest thing this family's had to deal with. One day, a mysterious lamp was dropped on their lawn, and Addison, having heard tales of genie lamps appearing around town, rubbed it in the hopes that a real genie would appear.

And just his luck! A real genie did appear, complete with purple skin, turban, lack of a fully solid torso and dust and sparkles! The genie told Addison in a booming voice that he had three wishes, but Addison chose to only use one. He wished for money... The Smiths were still very low on funds, even with Jane's (and Addison's) promotions and taking care of so many children with their limited funds wasn't exactly fun. Addison's wish came true and they ended up with enough money to expand the house and give each of the children their own rooms! The twins preferred to share however, so in the end, Abigail was the only one to get a single...

After making his wish, Addison moved the magic lamp into the hallway and little Bailey happened to stumble upon it. She'd heard the same kind of stories her daddy had and she wanted to see if a genie really could live in that tiny lamp. So she rubbed it and lo and behold, a purple genie appeared before her! He told her that she too had three wishes and not really knowing what to do (but not wanting to skip out on making a wish), Bailey wished to have a longer life, thinking that the genie would lengthen her life when she was older. But he set back her age right there and then! Bailey was shocked--she was no longer as old as her twin brother; now she was much younger! What was she going to say to her parents...?

Carver and Kittredge were also surprised by this turn of events. They had no idea that the children could be affected by that kind of magic. Were their lifespans more like their father's then?

Abigail was sure more like her father in one regard: her vanity. For about half a week or so, she never failed to primp and prance in the mirror at least once a day. She certainly didn't get such a quality from her mother, so one could only assume it was a trait that lay dormant in Addison's DNA... Or perhaps you could just blame it on her being a very pretty teenage girl.

Soon it was time for another round of birthdays! This time for the youngest pair of twins, Callie and Daria. Although Jane and Addison were excited to still be able to bring their children to their birthday cakes, they couldn't help imagining the day they would have to stoop in front of similar cakes, turn around and age into elders! The more they thought about it, the more they realized that day was coming pretty soon! The question was, did they want it to come sooner or later?

Despite not being a Family sim herself, Abigail had been raised by two Family sims and so she had some family values ingrained in her. That was probably why the moment the twins' birthday hoopla was over, she dragged both of them into the bathroom to give them makeovers. She was actually pretty smitten with her youngest siblings. She volunteered to take care of them after school (at least, until she spotted an opening in the Oceanography career) since she was a teenager. Her parents appreciated it deeply since both of them were still working full time and were a little hesitant in hiring a nanny. Here's Abigail with little Daria, who looks pretty similar to Callie except she's darker skinned.

Both of the twins were very cute, just like the rest of the Smith children. But as she thought about it, Abigail felt kind of bad for Aiden. He was the only boy out of five children! Abigail figured he had Addison and they did spend a lot of father-son bonding time together, but still. It probably would've been cool to have an older or younger brother. Abigail knew she sure loved having her little sisters around. Watching them play with toys that were once hers was kind of cute, she thought. But Aiden would be fine--he loved all of his sisters very much and he got along great with them too.

Of course he got along with his twin the best, though! They told each other everything--and that was partially why Bailey dragged Aiden off to a corner of the kitchen during the birthday festivities to let him in on a little secret. Seeing her twin sisters grow up together kind of prompted her to finally tell him.

"Aiden!" Bailey whispered harshly, making sure he was listening closely. "You know that lamp Dad brought home?" Aiden nodded. Bailey sighed. "Well, it's a magic lamp and there's a genie inside of it!" Aiden's eyes widened and Bailey just nodded her head solemnly. "Yeah, I know, I know! But get this... I asked the genie to make my life longer and he made me younger instead!"

"So?" Aiden asked, not fully comprehending. Bailey furrowed her brow.

"So?! That means I'm younger than you now, stupid! We're not twins anymore!" Bailey explained angrily. Aiden gasped and his eyes widened again, but Bailey pressed a finger to her lips. "Be quiet, jeez! You can't tell anybody about this, okay? Especially not Mom... She'd be so angry with me..."

"But what are you gonna do when it comes to our--er, my--birthday? Everyone's gonna know!" Aiden asked worriedly. Bailey bit her lip; she hadn't thought it through that far.

Bailey shrugged. "I don't know. I'll think of something. You just concentrate on aging well, okay?"

Aiden suddenly enveloped his newly younger twin in a hug. "I don't care how old some genie says you are, you're still my twin, Bails."

Bailey smiled. "And I was--am--the older one too, so don't you forget it!"

In the next room over, Abigail was monopolizing Callie pretty much. She found toddlers to be cute and surprisingly amusing. It kind of made her want a Family of her own... But she was Knowledge sim before anything else and she had to focus on getting into the career track she wanted. Family and things like that would come after...

However, the Smith family wasn't doing as strongly as they seemed. Late one afternoon, Mr. Addison Smith was found in bed with another woman by his daughter Callie...

...and Jane, his wife.

Michael Carver was quite excited by this turn of events but it all just made Sylvia Kittredge sick. How could Addison have been so careless? How could have even cheated in the first place? What about his wife? His children? Didn't he care about them at all?

"Family sims can be such whores," Michael spit out, clearly disgusted with Addison. "They want that family any way they can get it!"

Once again, Sylvia ignored her partner and continued to watch her creation's life unravel and unfold.

Unsure of what to say or do, Jane picked up Daria, who had crawled into her parents' bedroom after hearing a commotion and turned her back on Addison. He and the woman he was with (who was a mere teenager, mind you! Someone Abigail had brought home) scrambled out of the room and Jane tried to compose herself. She had to think clearly. What was the best solution in this situation?

But she couldn't think clearly. She could only think about Addison and his unfaithfulness. She worried that this wasn't the first time or that this had been going on for very long behind her back. She worried about how much the children had seen. She wondered if she should break up with her husband...

Once Jane had regained her composure, she stepped out of the bedroom and immediately, Addison was on her like white on rice. He put on his best sad puppy dog face and pressed his hands together, pleading for her forgiveness. Jane's eyes had never seemed so cold or so wolfishly yellow before. She didn't mean anything to me, Addison said. It wasn't really me, he claimed. It was just an autonomous casual romance! I had no control over my actions, he cried. But it was too soon for Jane to be hearing all these excuses. She still didn't know what to think. So without saying a word, she retreated back into their bedroom.

And she did the most amazing thing. She cried.

While Michael ranted on in the background about how Addison made Jane cry, Sylvia just watched in amazement. A robot...that could cry. Granted, she had no tear ducts nor any water in her body, so she wasn't actually producing tears, but she was still going through the motions of crying. She could still feel that sad...

Although she was amazed, Kittredge was also worried. How had it come to this? She and Carver had made the perfect woman, the perfect female. What would bring Addison to cheat (twice) on such a perfect wife? Jane had been nothing but loving and caring to him. What was he not satisfied with?

No one seemed to be able to answer that, not even Addison himself. He did care about his children an incredible amount and he didn't understand these momentary lapses into unfaithfulness. It wasn't like him. He loved Jane. She was all he ever needed and yet...

Jane once again walked out of her bedroom and stumbled upon this sight. It startled her a little, but it also cleared her head. She knew what she had to do. Approaching Addison with a stony, unforgiving face, she told him two things.

"...For the children." Addison was visibly shocked, but he understood. "But," Jane added very clearly, "you sleep on the couch."

The way Addison saw it, this could've ended much worse. Michael was surprised (and a little upset) that it hadn't.

Meanwhile, outside another teenage girl was getting accosted by an older man. Komei Seavey, a sort of acquaintance of Jane's, thought it totally appropriate to hit on Abigail after he just met her. Of course, Abigail wasn't having that kind of nonsense...

But after they had talked a little, she seemed to warm up to the idea of him...

And they were doing some heavy flirting before the night was through. Komei also managed to snag a kiss (Abigail's first), but Abigail didn't seem all that interested in him, to be honest. Maybe she just liked the attention?

And soon, it was birthday time again! It should've been a quadruple birthday with Bailey, Aiden, Callie and Daria, but after Bailey's incident with the genie (which she quickly explained to her mother before her parents went out to get birthday cakes), it ended up being a triple birthday instead. Jane didn't really get mad at Bailey about the genie thing, but she did tell her daughter to be a lot more careful the next time she was dealing with any supernatural creatures. Bailey didn't need to be told twice.

Aiden grew up into a handsome looking teenager, who seemed to have more of his father's looks (the nose, for instance). He was a Popularity and Family oriented sim with the lifetime want to become a celebrity chef. His hobby was science, his turn ons were black hair and high mechanical skill and his turn off was hats. His personality stats were 10/10/3/2/3, making him an Aries.

Here's Callie, also looking very much like her father.

And Daria, who seems to be a good blend of her parents' genetics.

Just like when she was little, Abigail still enjoyed playing with her little siblings. She knew she had to go off to college very soon and would likely be leaving before the rest of her siblings, so she made sure to get in as much play time as possible before venturing off into the "real world". It was kind of scary just thinking about it, but Abigail knew it had to happen. Besides, how else was she supposed to become the Hand of Poseidon?

Speaking of the Oceanography career, Abigail finally managed to snag a job and even got a promotion on her first day. She was really excited even though it was just an entry level job and as a teenager, she didn't really get to do much, but it was better than nothing. Besides, having her own job meant she could afford more personal things without having to go through her parents. Financial independence was a sign of maturity, wasn't it? It was good training for later on in life.

In other news, Jane and Addison's relationship went right back on track. They were married with children and Jane still loved him so much, even if he was occasionally unfaithful. She forgave but didn't forget his infidelity, but they were a special match in Jane's mind. Addison had been the first person she'd really clicked with in Eden and she couldn't imagine parting with him now. They'd started a legacy together. They had so much history. Jane couldn't bear to let that go.

Besides, she was sure Addison wouldn't dare have another affair again--she had some not so lenient punishments in mind if he so much as dared to look in another woman's direction. Needless to say, Michael wasn't entirely pleased with this development, but Sylvia could understand. She'd secretly been rooting for the couple anyway.

And it was just in time too, because the very next day was Jane's birthday and now everything was going well for her, she had no reason to carry any bad blood over into her next stage of life. The scientists watched on with bated breath, feeling bittersweet about the aging of their greatest creation. You might wonder how Carver and Kittredge haven't aged themselves. Well, it's their little secret, but let's just say that a little something called the Elixir of Life has to do with it...

In any news, Jane aged beautifully and she was really quite pleased with herself. Her life was coming to an end and she had plenty to celebrate. She had come to Eden with one purpose: to start a legacy. And here she was now, a gorgeous elder surrounded by beautiful children, a good husband in a wonderful house with a fantastic job. There wasn't really anything she could complain about. Who would have thought that she'd actually come this far?

...Yes, it has to be some phase teenagers go through. It's a good thing that they're confident in their body images though, right?

Speaking of teenagers, Abigail decided it was high time for her to head of to college. She wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps and create a legacy of her own (even if she wasn't picked as heiress), so she had to leave before her siblings to secure some land so they could build the greatest Greek House their campus had ever seen!

And as the oldest sister left, another sister was growing up as well. Bailey was excited to finally be the same age as her twin again. She really regretted making that wish from the genie, but she couldn't take it back now. All she could do was be grateful that she had reached this birthday at all!

And Bailey grew up in a beautiful young woman, looking like a nice mix of her parents. Both pairs of twins looked very similar to one another, but you could tell there was something distinctive about each one of them. Bailey was a Popularity and Knowledge oriented sim with the lifetime want to become the mayor. Her hobby is science (kind of a trend in this family, it seems), her turn ons are stink and full-face makeup and her turn off is blond hair. Her personality stats are 9/5/5/8/6, making Bailey a Capricorn.

The twins remain cute and sometimes take over their parents' bed in matching pajamas and positions.

To add to her list of successes, Jane reaches the top of the Military career and becomes a General. By now, the Smiths have a pretty steady financial situation and are living quite comfortably, but Jane still doesn't want to retire from her job. With her kids going off to college so soon, she doesn't just want to lollygag around the house. Being idle is no fun! And even as an elder, she's the best worker at her job.

More birthdays! This time Daddy's growing up with his little girls! This was a big turning point for the family because everyone knew that as soon as Callie and Daria aged up, all four of the kids still at home would go off to join Abigail at college--La Fiesta Tech, to be exact! Addison was excited for his elder years (and that golden anniversary), but he was also sad to see all his little ones go.

Callie was the first to age (and into a dress that was so un-Callie like)! She is a Pleasure and Knowledge oriented sim with the lifetime want to be a professional party guest. Her hobby is music and dance, she's turned on by blond hair and hard workers and is turned off by charismatic sims. Her personality stats are 5/8/4/7/6, making her a Taurus.

Daria also ages into an uncharacteristic outfit (although hers is less so than her sister's). She is a Romance and Fortune oriented sim with the lifetime want to become the Hand of Poseidon (uh-oh, Abby has competition!). Her hobby is sports, she's turned on by black hair and unemployed sims and is turned off by custom hair. Her personality stats are 5/5/10/5/6, making her a Scorpio.

Both Jane and Addison seemed excited to start their lives as elders together and to finally have the house to themselves again. They planned on celebrating their Golden Anniversary once their kids returned home from college. Michael Carver was surprised they even had a golden anniversary to celebrate. Sylvia Kittredge told him to stop being so bitter.

Before they left though, the girls had a short exploration into what life was like living like a teenager in Eden. Apparently, it was very popular for older sims to go after teenagers... Callie discovered she was a lesbian before she even had time to experiment in college! Well, at least it'd save her some confusion now.

And Daria took a great liking to the piano and pretty much any creative endeavor. But barely two days later, the girls (as well as Bailey and Aiden) were shipped off to La Fiesta Tech to join their older sister! Carver and Kittredge were excited as well. College was a great time for experimentation and learning--wasn't that exactly what the Smith legacy was about?
