The Smith Legacy: 2.0

In a totally unforeseen turn of events (at least, to her), Daria Smith was elected to be the first generation heiress of her family's legacy. When she first heard the news, Daria really didn't believe it. She was sure the title would've gone to Abigail or Aiden. She hadn't even really considered herself to be in the running. Daria had already started making mental plans about what kind of apartment she'd buy and how many guys she'd meet a week, but now her life plans were being interrupted. Now she had to move back in with her parents and start--dare she even think it--having babies. It was a pretty scary thought.

After greeting her parents and quickly catching up with them (after all, she had been away at college for a while), Daria beelined for the phone. While waiting to hear the decision for heir, Daria's life seemed to be at a standstill. She couldn't really explain it. The point was, she hadn't been able to get much ass while waiting and now she was more than anxious to make up for lost time.

So Daria called over Oliver, one of her old college loves, who was still dressed in his graduation robes. Not that she minded--he wouldn't be in those robes for much longer anyway. Jane and Addison decided to keep their distance from Daria while she got resettled in the main house. It was a little obvious that Daria's being heiress came as a surprise (and probably an unwanted turn of events), but Jane and Addison knew that once their youngest daughter was on track, she would make their family proud. Carver and Kittredge were also certain of this, but they kept a close eye on Daria as they watched anyway--they worried that Daria would be reluctant to get on track and would go wild, wilder than they had ever seen her before.

It soon became clear that this was not the case. While Daria wasn't the most proactive of heirs, she wasn't crazy either. She knew she had responsibilities to the family now more than ever and she wasn't going to disappoint her parents. She just felt too young to already think about settling down and having kids and a nine-to-five job and all that stuff. So instead, Daria just lazed around at home and partook in her favorite hobbies while her parents went off to work. Daria also used her free time to cook up ways that she could keep her personality and lifestyle but still do legacy heir things. Admittedly, her ideas were pretty unconventional, but she couldn't see herself being heiress without them.

Once Daria figured she'd thought out her plans thoroughly enough, she started being a little more responsible around the house. She tried job hunting (and though it wasn't successful the first time, she didn't give up) and she started helping more around the house. Her parents certainly appreciated whatever help they got in their old age.

A refresher on Daria's stats: she is a Romance and Fortune oriented sim with the lifetime want to become the Hand of Poseidon. Her hobby is sports, she's turned on by black hair and unemployed sims and she's turned off by custom hair. Her personality stats are 5/5/10/5/6, making her a Scorpio.

Daria's plans for her life as heiress didn't limit the amount of time she got to spend with her men (nor did it limit the amount of men she got to spend her time with). So she kept Oliver around--he was a really nice guy after all, and they got along great. Kittredge and Carver didn't think their fling would last very long though. They were sure Daria was going to go out and form some new affairs with the available (and maybe not so available) men of Eden. Michael Carver had his fingers crossed for that, at least.

On their pseudo-date, Oliver met Daria's father, Addison Smith. Daria kind of just laughed it off when her dad asked if she was already bringing guys home to her parents. Oliver seemed to take the situation pretty awkwardly though. He knew Daria was a Romance sim and he was into that no-strings-attached kind of relationship. While he wouldn't be adverse to marrying Daria later on, now he was all about just having fun. To be honest, so was Daria, but Addison was judging and evaluating Oliver like he was a prospective spouse.

Thankfully, that hiccup in their date didn't ruin the entire day for them. Even if it had, nothing would stop sims like Oliver and Daria from getting into bed with each other. Yeah, Oliver could see himself marrying into the Smith family if that meant he got to stay in bed with Daria more often. But at this point, who knew? Daria certainly didn't have her heart set on one guy (which admittedly worried her parents and the scientists observing her). She wasn't really thinking about having kids either. She was just taking each day as it came to her, which, in her mind, was a perfectly good way to live.

Daria also took her men as they came (and went). She hadn't met any men from Eden who interested her as much as the guys from her college days, so she kept up with the guys she already knew. It seemed every morning she had a different guy waiting on her doorstep and every night, there'd be a different one climbing into her bed. Jane was a little upset by her daughter's promiscuous behavior, but Addison insisted that Daria knew what she was doing and that she would make the right choice when the time came. But as it stood then, Daria was perfectly content to spend her time with guys like Bill Tse. She'd always liked him a lot.

Daria finally got a job in her dream career: Oceanography. She started off in a pretty high position thanks to her college degree. That was great because not only did Daria enjoy her job more, but she got paid better and she was that much closer to being the Hand of Poseidon. The faster she reached the top, the better.

Of course, Daria's life was definitely not just all work. Hardly at all, in fact. She worked as little as possible and had most of the skills required for her job and for promotions, so she didn't have to spend much time skilling either. Not that she would anyway; with her robotic genes, she skilled a lot faster than normal mortals. So, with her free time, Daria went out on the town in the hopes of finding more bed partners. She went to the Lost in Love Hedge Maze, thinking that she'd find some lonely single men.

Daria certainly wasn't wrong about that! There were more single men there than there were couples--something she was incredibly happy about. How funny it was that more single people went to a love maze! It wasn't that surprising; they were all here for the same reason: to find love with someone. Well, Daria wasn't really looking for love, but that's beside the point. As usual, all the guys were tripping over themselves to get to Daria and introduce themselves to her. She was flattered of course, but not a lot of them held her interest for very long. She might've been a Romance sim, but Daria still had standards that had to be met.

Daria stayed late at the Lost in Love Hedge Maze chatting with all kinds of guys, but there was one late night character who really caught her attention. He was Count Abhijeet Scott and he was a vampire. Daria had never met a real life vampire before so she found the Count to be extremely fascinating. They also had some chemistry and that alone made Daria briefly entertain the idea of having him bite her and turning into a vampire herself. But then she remembered that she had a day job and being a vampire would just be too inconvenient. All the same, she still wondered what a vampire would be like in bed...

Needless to say, Carver and Kittredge were a little worried (but also curious) about Daria's interest in this supernatural creature. It was still too early in the legacy for too many supernatural genes to be introduced into the robotic family. Things could go haywire--literally.

Daria left her new vampire friend behind and headed for the Photobooth. Now, Daria did like to take pictures of herself and she would need a portrait to put up in the main house, but the likeliness of her going into the Photobooth alone was slim to none.

Unsurprisingly, a man named Sheldon Bendett (whom Daria met only two minutes beforehand!) joined her in the Photobooth not too long after she'd entered. Despite knowing very little about Sheldon (she barely even knew his name!), Daria had no qualms about woohooing with him in public. I just hoped that none of the guys who were madly in love with her were on the lot to witness this.

Mrs. Crumplebottom, Eden's resident prude, was on the lot to witness it though! And she had no qualms about berating Daria for...wearing a bathing suit? Daria was a little shaken by the threat of Mrs. Crumplebottom (she'd heard about all the crazy things this lady had done), but the old woman turned out to be not that scary. She only shouted a little at Daria for her revealing clothing (which wasn't all that revealing, as she was wearing a one-piece) and didn't hit her with her purse or mention the public woohoo at all. Daria was pretty relieved.

And once Crumplebottom was gone, Daria returned to macking on her new man. Yeah, you bet she still had it. Life was good.

Daria spent a lot of time going out that week. Being at home wasn't much fun. Sure, she could call her boy toys over, but her parents were always on her back, pressuring her. They kept asking when was she going to finally choose someone and settle down, when was she going to pay more attention to her career than to her sex life and when was she going to pop out some kidlets? Daria didn't have the answers to those questions nor did she actually want to answer them. She just wanted to have fun. Her plan would come to fruition soon and her parents would be proud of her. She'd be the heiress everyone wanted her to be, but for right now, she just wanted to do typical Daria. So the moment she got home from work each day, she'd head right back out and come home only once her parents were asleep.

One of these outings led her to the secret hobby lot, Aspirational Laboratories. It was a lot that Michael Carver and Sylvia Kittredge were very familiar with. They gave each other worried looks as Daria entered the lab. There was a whole bunch of technology available there that could potentially give away their entire experiment. There was nothing they could but sit and watch and hope with all their might that Daria didn't choose today to analyze her DNA.

Both scientists watched completely alert as Daria synthesized things, observed things and mixed chemicals. They had no idea that Daria was so scientifically savvy nor did they know she had a membership to the secret laboratory. Kittredge was especially anxious--their experiment had only just gotten started and already they were at risk of it ended prematurely. She and her partner had worked far too hard to see all their work fall through thanks to an error that was completely out of their hands. Luckily, it seemed Daria was more interested in making medicine; Addison had come down with the flu and she just wanted to help him out. Just as long as Daria didn't wonder why nobody else in her family ever seemed to get sick, things would be fine...

Once done with the medicine, Daria moved on to the surgical dummy table. It was absolutely fascinating, what she pulled out of the dummy's body. Some were body parts she recognized, some weren't. Some were random items that even she knew didn't belong in there... But it was kind of fun. It made Daria wonder why she didn't become a scientist or something. It only made Carver and Kittredge worry. The longer Daria stayed in the lab, the higher the chances were that she would discover something about her strange biology. But what made the scientists worry more was when a professor they didn't recognize approached Daria. At first, she didn't notice him and he silently watched her work her way through the dummy. Finally, he spoke: "I've never seen someone go through that dummy at such an incredible speed!" Daria jumped and almost caught the rubber liver she was holding in her hand, but her reflexes kicked in not a second too soon.

The professor laughed. "Sorry! Didn't mean to surprise you there." Daria shook her head and insisted that she hadn't been surprised at all--a very obvious lie. The professor ignored it and continued to introduce himself. "I'm Professor Mark Lee from La Fiesta Tech. Nice to meet you."

"Daria Smith, sir," Daria said curtly, returning the professor's handshake. "The pleasure's all mine."

"Daria... Have we met before? You seem awfully familiar."

"I was in one of your seminars my freshman year at La Fiesta, sir."

And so the conversation continued. Carver and Kittredge were incredibly nervous now that they knew this man was from La Fiesta Tech. He was probably involved in Strangetown science in one way or another. What he was doing in Eden--talking to Daria Smith, no less--wasn't clear, but it sure was suspicious to the two scientists watching. They listened closely as Professor Lee invited Daria to study with him and both let out a breath of relief when Daria politely declined, saying that she had other life plans at the moment. They didn't trust that professor at all.

Professor Lee gave Daria his card and soon after that, she left because there weren't many hot guys around. It was about time for her to go back home and get ready for work anyway.

And after her long day at work, Daria could think of no better way to relax and unwind than to call up another one of her old flames. Bill Tse was another one of her favorites. He was laid-back and fun and always up for a good time. He was also one of the best looking guys she knew.

And of course his visit to her house turned into a visit to her bedroom. Making up for lost time, one man at a time.

Addison, who in his old age was surprisingly still climbing his career ladder, was always happy and beaming when he came back home from work. He'd spend a moment or two on the lawn just preaching about how amazing he was--even when no one else was home. It was always amusing to watch. Keep it pimping, Addison.

Speaking of pimping, Daria was definitely not going to be doing much for a while! She's pregnant--finally. And her parents are real happy about that and all--or at least, they would be if they knew who the father was! Daria has no idea who it is and she's still not planning on getting married anytime soon. What will this mean for her unborn child?

Before she popped and found out she was pregnant, Daria had made a date to meet Corbin downtown. Part of her wanted to cancel now (especially because she had the gnawing feeling that the baby wasn't his), but a date was a date. She was sure Corbin wouldn't mind that she'd be eating for two now. So Daria got into the taxi and headed down to Londoste, in her maternity wear and all.

When he met up with her, Corbin took one look at Daria's swollen stomach and wrapped her in his arms. Daria smiled despite herself; she was relieved that Corbin wasn't making a big deal of it. If anything, he seemed really happy... That should've worried Daria, but she was too caught up in the romantic moment to care. Instead, they danced on the street for a while before Daria and Corbin's stomachs started growling loudly and then the two headed inside the swanky restaurant for their dinner date.

The dinner started out nice. Daria and Corbin were seated at a comfortable little corner table away from most of the hustle and bustle of the always busy, but totally romantic restaurant. Daria ordered the lime seared prawn while Corbin got the filet mignon and they were truly beautiful meals. The food was great. What took the date south however, was the conversation... Daria didn't go on many proper dates and she soon realized why. After running through fun topics and their usual thing, Corbin turned the conversation slightly awkward by offering to put Daria up if she needed support for the baby. She reminded him that she was living with her parents and between the three of them, there were more than enough hands and money to give the baby all the support he or she needed. Corbin smiled and nodded, but kept insisting that he would be there for his baby when it was born. Daria just stuffed her face with the prawn and said no more; surely Corbin couldn't be sure the baby was his? He knew about Daria's habits...

The date ended well enough anyway and within the next few days, Daria had her baby. Her parents (who had gone through this more times than they cared to recount), stood by her side and offered her support. Funnily enough, it was Jane's turn to freak out about a labor that wasn't hers and Addison stood by silently, knowing that the men were (for some reason) never really helpful in these situations.

And Daria had one little baby girl. Welcome to the world, Ava Smith. The moment Daria laid eyes on her darling girl, she knew who the father was. Her baby's eyes, dark hair and light skin was a dead giveaway. Ava was Bill's daughter; there was no doubt about it. The thought made Daria's chest tight. Did she have to tell Bill now? Would she have to tell Corbin? She couldn't even begin to think of such responsibilities, so instead, Daria just admired her daughter and the fact that she'd just brought a life into this world. It was a lot more amazing than she'd thought it'd be.

After the birth of their first granddaughter, Jane and Addison thought it'd be appropriate to remind each other how the baby-making process went. Their love life had certainly not dwindled in the least--Jane and Addison were still going strong. In fact, they hadn't ever been more in love. No matter what baby daddy drama Daria was about to bring into their house, Jane and Addison knew they'd always find solidity and stability with one another and that was all they needed. Even Michael Carver had come to accept and even embrace their relationship, letting his previous bitter feelings go. However, he'd moved on to feeling bitter about something completely different...

Daria remembered the lamp that had been in the Smith house since she was a little girl and wondered if it still worked. When she rubbed it, to her great surprise, the purple genie did emerge! Although the warning words of her sister Bailey and even her own mother rang in Daria's mind, she paid them no attention. She was going to make a very simple wish. In fact, it probably wouldn't have a very noticeable affect at all. Daria wished for beauty. She'd been sleeping with pretty much the same men since she graduated and she wanted a change of pace--even though she had Ava now. Maybe she'd land a guy fit enough to stick around who could be Ava's stepdad.

But Daria was very much thinking of her baby girl. She did most of the caretaking of baby Ava, to her parents' surprise. They thought she'd just go out all the time and leave Ava behind for them to take care of. It was quite the opposite. Daria was very protective of her only daughter and would hardly let her parents hold Ava unless she was around to supervise. Jane had to snappishly remind her youngest daughter that she had, in fact, raised Daria and four other children. After that, Daria was a little less neurotic with Ava.

But being a mother didn't mean she was hanging up her towel as the neighborhood...friendly woman. She still hung out with Corbin a lot. She hung out with Bill (and even with Oliver) a lot too. She hadn't told Bill about his daughter's existence and she didn't offer to show Ava to Corbin. To be fair, he didn't ask to see the child. So much for that supportive dad act he'd pulled in Londoste. To be honest, Daria was very much relieved. Secrets were hard to keep, but she didn't want to get caught in the middle of any serious drama either.

However, Daria came to the realization that she couldn't go on like this. This epiphany came to her over a one-person dinner when her parents were out working and Ava was upstairs in her crib sleeping. Daria was the heiress to the legacy. She had to produce at least three children to carry on the legacy. As of now, she only had Ava and she didn't have a spouse either. Daria was doing this heiress thing all wrong and for the first round, it'd been fun, but she knew this wasn't fair for Ava either. And her original plan of sleeping around and just having a whole bunch of illegitimate children wasn't going to work either. That wouldn't be fair to any of her kids--or their dads. So it was then, eating her slightly burnt burger, that Daria knew she had to do the right thing.

The closer she came to doing the right thing, the more Daria realized it wasn't actually that difficult. And she didn't have to be miserable about it either. Daria called up Bill and told him that she desperately needed to see him. At first, he laughed, thinking she was lonelier than usual and needed a booty-call, but when he heard her tone and when Daria said she actually needed to talk to him, Bill stopped laughing and assured Daria that he'd be over as quickly as he could be. Daria was glad he understood and that he wasn't going to flake on her when she turned serious. Fun times were always great, but it was time for the youngest Smith to grow up.

Bill seemed to be really interested in whatever Daria needed to talk to him about, something she was also grateful for. His cooperation was needed for this operation and his interest would make everything else go smoother. Daria had thought long and hard about how to bring up the elephant in the room, and she'd decided that being direct was the best way for her to go.

"Bill, I called you because I wanted you to meet your daughter," she told him. Bill didn't act nearly as surprised as Daria imagined he'd be. He also wasn't upset. He just raised his eyebrows like Daria had stated a really interesting fact.

"Daughter, huh?" Bill asked. Daria nodded. Carver and Kittredge watched on in suspense. "So. What's her name?"

Bill was just really easy-going about the whole situation. He was a little disappointed that Daria hadn't told him about Ava sooner, but he understood her motives and how difficult it was for her to even come to this point. She explained to him what her role in the Smith legacy was and emphasized the point that she wanted her daughter to grow up in a nurturing, stable household with both of her parents. Bill said that he couldn't agree more and that he couldn't wait to meet his little one. Daria was really happy about the way things were turning out. She knew she'd met a good man when she'd met Bill.

So Bill agreed to move into the Smith house and live with Daria, Ava and her parents so that their child could have the family she needed. Daria had never been so thankful or happy about anything in her entire life.

"Bill, you're the best, really."

Carver and Kittredge couldn't agree more. It warmed their hearts to see their robot creations getting the love and happy endings they so justly deserved. Addison and Jane were also happy to hear this news. They hoped Daria and Bill would also consider marriage--Bill would have to take on the Smith name, of course--but they figured they didn't need to worry either way. Bill and Daria seemed to make a really good team.

And so Bill Tse moved in and got his complimentary makeover. Looking good, Bill, looking good. His stats are as follows: Bill is a Romance oriented sim, but his second aspiration is Fortune. His lifetime want is to woohoo with twenty sims and his hobby is games. His personality stats are 5/5/3/8/4, making him a Taurus. He's turned on by hard workers and charismatic sims, but turned off by grey hair.

Daria told Bill that they didn't have to get married if he didn't want to. She wasn't too excited about marriage herself and asking Bill to move in to help take care of Ava seemed like so much already. But Bill just waggled his eyebrows and asked who said he didn't want to get married? He even went as far to say that he'd consider himself lucky to have Daria as his wife. That was all she had to hear before breaking out the engagement ring. The good thing was that they loved each other and they loved each other's company. The marriage wasn't just a contract or a last resort. They both wanted it.

But before the big wedding, it was Ava's first birthday! The little baby seemed so excited to be turning older and Jane was excited to grow her little granddaughter up. She blew out the candles and made a wish for Ava. Choosing a wish was hard as life in the Smith household was working out for everyone.

Even Bill and Daria were having a good time together which kind of surprised some people. Sure, the two had known each other and been hooking up since college and yeah, they were in love, but they were also Romance sims and "in love" with other sims as well. But they had fantastic chemistry together and whatever they were doing, it was working. Even wearing engagement rings didn't seem to slow these two down or worry them at all. If anything, it seemed to make their excessive PDA more legitimate.

Daria held Ava in her arms. It was incredible to think that Ava had just been a baby days ago and now she was a big toddler, well on her way to learning how to talk and walk and run and do all kinds of things! She looked so much like her father too. Anyone would be able to tell that Ava was Bill's kid. Daria really didn't mind that; she could tell Ava was going to grow up and be gorgeous.

There seemed to be nothing but joy and happiness running through the Smith household. Addison and Jane both had their lifetime wants (to graduate three children from college) achieved, both were at the top of their careers, Daria was starting to take more responsibility as heiress, they had a beautiful granddaughter and Daria was about to get married to a wonderful guy! Things couldn't have been working out better for the family.

Then came the night of Daria and Bill's wedding. It was a very small affair. They didn't even invite the rest of the Smith family. Daria wanted it to be as private as possible. She and Bill weren't into romantic dramatics and the privacy of it made it more special to the both of them. All those attending were just amazed that two Romance sims could come together to marry and have such a beautiful relationship. It was obvious Daria and Bill were going to stay together for a very long time.

The two said their vows as their guests (and Carver and Kittredge) watched on with moist eyes. Bill Tse became Bill Smith and was welcomed into the Smith family with open arms. Now it was time for Daria and Bill to focus on their duty to the legacy. First and foremost, they had two more kids to pop out, not that they were at all unfamiliar with the baby-making process. Carver and Kittredge were interested to see how exactly this all was going to turn out.

the smith legacy: generation two, the smith legacy
