Here's the baby! The fifth (and actual last) child of the third generation of Smiths, Daria's third son, Clay Smith. He looked the most like his mother out of all five of the children and Daria was happy to see some more of her obviously reflected in her offspring.
Ava left for college soon after Clay's birth. She was sad to say goodbye to the newborn so quickly. He wouldn't even know her until he too reached college age, but Ava wasn't too worried. She was sure when they finally got to know each other that they would get along smashingly. She was very excited about college anyway.
Only a couple of days after Ava left for college, it was time for Clay to age up. Daria admitted that Clay's aging up process seemed to come a lot faster than his older siblings', but that was probably only because Daria had been through it four times before (not counting the other age transitions). It certainly made Daria sympathize with her mother and older siblings for having the patience for birthday parties even after all these years, but she also sympathized with Clay, especially knowing how it was to grow up being the youngest of five. At least she'd had her twin Callie always by her side.
Clay grew up to be a very cute and handsome toddler. Daria styled his hair and everyone in the family took quite the liking to Clay's new 'do. It somehow seemed very fitting on him.
Soon after Clay's aging, there were two more birthdays happening! Daria hadn't realized it, but her elder transition just sneaked up on her! It was also time for Jesse to turn into a teenager which also seemed surprising. Daria didn't know if she'd just been so caught up in taking care of baby Clay to notice or if she was really beginning to forget things so easily. She didn't want to already be going senile!
Jesse aged well and kept his Edward Cullen vampirish-like looks. His dad never did stop teasing him about that. Maybe that look would be all the rage at his school and he'd have all the girls swooning over him. Jesse certainly hoped so since he'd rolled the main aspiration of Romance and the secondary aspiration of Pleasure. He'd definitely be doing his fair share of skirt chasing in the years to come. However, his lifetime want was to become a Hall of Famer and his predestined hobby was tinkering, oddly enough. Jesse's personality stats read as 10/2/3/10/9, making him a Capricorn. He was turned on by makeup and full-face makeup and turned off by athletic sims.
Daria also aged beautifully, as her mother before her had. She kept her long, flowing hair and even managed to keep up with her subtle and sexy fashion. Bill certainly appreciated it. To be honest, despite the grey hair and more prominent wrinkles (and unfortunate weaker bladder), Daria didn't feel much older than she did as an adult. She was still the hottest thing in Eden anyway.
Olive, who looked more and more like her father everyday, was also on her way to being the hottest thing in Eden. Maybe not so much in her mother's sense. Olive was clearly a very pretty little girl, but she was just very active. The way she got rid of her excess energy was by spending most of her time at the ballet barre in the family room. It was fun, productive and a great way to exercise!
It was soon time for Olive's birthday and Daria decided to throw a party for her. It was really an excuse for Daria to invite her siblings over. She hadn't seen very much of them since settling back down in the main house and although her kids often brought their cousins home from school, they didn't interact with their aunts and uncles very much. Even though the sense of aging was warped (seeing as Daria was now the oldest second generation Smith), everything else was going well.
Abigail was settled down with Ryder, of course. They had three kids and she was pregnant with her fourth. Bailey had gotten married to Stella and together they had three kids and lived in the same duplex as Callie, who married Jasmine and had three kids of her own. Aiden had settled down with Chris and the couple had two beautiful children. Everyone was doing just fine in life and Daria knew their parents were certainly proud of them.
Once the mini-family reunion bit was over, everyone moved on to the real celebration: Olive's transition into teenagedom! While she doesn't look too thrilled about it above, she certainly was. She was mostly worried about what aspiration she would be. They all sounded so fun (except maybe for Fortune; she didn't really want to be a paper chaser for the rest of her life) and she didn't know which one to pick! Bill didn't look so anxious about Olive's necessary choice though--he was proud of his youngest daughter and would support her in whatever she did, the same way he supported his other children. He knew that whatever Olive chose to do, she would succeed in.
So Olive transitioned, looking very much like her father but certainly different from her older sister Ava. She cut her hair a bit and curled it more and while her style got a little less girly, there were still very obvious traces of femininity in them. As it was, Olive's main aspiration turned out to be Popularity, with Pleasure as her secondary. Her lifetime want was to become the Mayor of Eden. Her predestined hobby was Tinkering. Olive's personality stats read as 6/10/3/6/10, making her a Libra. She was turned on by hats and black hair, but turned off by sims with high mechanical skills.
Before the night's wild festivities were over, Daria got quite the shock when she was just trying to use the bathroom. Her mother's ghost popped out of the bathtub and scared her! Daria almost wet herself right there and then! When she was recollecting herself later, Daria still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that her mother's ghost was already haunting the house. She hoped the ghosts wouldn't get too harsh on the family or anything. The last thing she wanted was for anyone to die from fright.
The party was a rocking party and went well on into the night, but when there was only about an hour of it left, the cops broke up the celebration and told everyone they had to quiet down and go home. That didn't put a damper on anybody's mood though. Clearly the neighbors were complaining because they were jealous that they hadn't been invited to Olive's awesome birthday party. Olive actually thought it was kind of cool that the cops shut her party down. That'd definitely be something to brag about on her first day in high school.
But while Olive was getting ready for the harshness of high school, Clay was only just reaching elementary school age. His mother, now old and grey, was amazed that her youngest son was still so...young. It sounded odd, but her age was beginning to kick in and Clay was still only a child. For that matter, Bill was still an adult. Daria was impatiently waiting for him to catch up with her.
Clay aged into a very handsome, mature looking young boy. He looked like the perfect mix of his parents and everybody said so. He had more of his mother's nose, but his father's eyes, his mother's smile and hair, but more of his father's facial structure.
Noah, who had still been hanging around doing his own thing, decided it was a good time for him to go off to college and join his older sister. His parents agreed although it made them sad to have to say goodbye to their children. Daria only hoped they didn't get too wild at the Greek House, once they became members. Daria still remembered her college days at the Greek House and boy, did things get crazy. She wasn't very worried about Noah going wild--he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders--but one could never guarantee how a child would act when his parents were out of sight.
Speaking of Noah's parents, their marriage was still going strong. Daria had never thought about her Golden Anniversary before and her parents hadn't celebrated theirs, but now she was entertaining the thought. It sounded like a pretty alright idea. Besides, her and Bill's marriage was certainly something to celebrate. They were Romance sims through and through, but had managed to settle down with each other and parent five children without ever straying. It was nothing short of a miracle, in Romance sim standards, at least.
Olive took to the piano much like her mother had in her own teenage days. She certainly had a talent for the piano and like Daria, was pretty creative all around. She was definitely going to get a scholarship for university for her high creativity skill. Olive was actually also very taken with music and dance and had been since she was a toddler. It was only impressive because the Smiths showed their talents from a young age and developed them quickly as they aged. Carver and Kittredge had noticed this, although in this generation, there was a slight decline in talent-oriented activities and "overachieveringness," as Michael Carver put it.
Speaking of talent, Olive's predestined hobby might've been Tinkering, but that didn't mean she was very good at it. Jesse's predestined hobby was also Tinkering and he also wasn't the best handyman. When their computer broke, both teens tried their hands at fixing it. Jesse got electrocuted first and Olive thought she could do a better job than her fried and burnt brother, but she received the same fate. Once again, the scientists worried about what kind of effect the electricity could have on whatever robotic genes lingered in the teenagers' bodies. Things only got worse when the computer spontaneously combusted, thus starting the first fire of the legacy.
Carver and Kittredge were only surprised that it'd taken this long.
The real problem was that there wasn't a fire alarm in the study. There was no way to alert the nearest firehouse that a fire had been started. Bill managed to break away from doing the panic fire dance to call emergency officials and luckily, within minutes, a fireman had arrived. Of course, by then, the desk and computer had been burnt to bits and ashes, but luckily the fireman was able to prevent any of the Smiths from receiving the same fate. Needless to say, it was a day none of them would soon forget.
After a couple of days (and a heated debate on whether or not they should put fire alarms in every single room), the family gathered in their kitchen to celebrate Bill's birthday. He was transitioning into an elder, so it was a pretty big day for him and Daria was excited for her husband to finally join her in her silver ranks.
Bill aged beautifully and kept his casual clothing, not really looking like a father, but just a really big teenager...with grey hair.
Bill jokingly complained about his bones creaking and feeling brittle already and Daria was right there to laugh (but also give him a massage for good measure). She was excited to spend the last of her days with Bill. Daria had achieved her lifetime want of being the Hand of Poseidon and went through her days blissfully happy although she had no intention of retiring anytime soon. If at all. Unfortunately, Bill would never hit permanently platinum status seeing as his lifetime want was to WooHoo twenty different sims--neither he nor his wife would be having that--but Bill claimed he was in perma-plat just from being around Daria.
Sweet, right?
Jesse was the next Smith teen to take off for college. In fact, he was so eager to go, he left still dressed in his pretty embarrassing work outfit--a llama mascot costume! Luckily, that wouldn't be that unusual or embarrassing at La Fiesta Tech. Heck, people would probably give him high fives and do the school cheer with him when they saw him dressed up! That was one way to make a first impression.
After Jesse went out, Bill got a call from an old friend who invited him out on an outing Downtown. Bill asked the rest of his family to join him and next thing you know, all of the Smiths are piling into one taxicab heading for the Go Here Sunshine Park. Sure, it was pretty dark out and there would be no sunshine to be seen, but an outing was an outing. And there would be expresso and chess there.
Plenty of people joined them on their outing...
...some a little more excited about Daria Smith and her body than others...
Of course Daria paid those men no mind. She was here with her husband and children and she was going to have fun with them, the outing be damned. She was a little wary of some of the more unsavory characters who appeared in the park at such a time, and made sure to keep little Clay very close to her when the Count she'd once been good friends with approached. Daria didn't want anybody getting bitten tonight. Carver and Kittredge were on the same page. They had to study the direct robotic lineage before they could even think of mixing different species into the bloodline.
The outing didn't really go as planned. While Daria had been the Queen of the Night in her younger days, the same did not apply now that she was old and grey. Sure, plenty of young and able-bodied men still wanted a piece of her, but now she didn't have that same young girlish charm where she could flounce off and leave them with their mouths hanging open and still wanting her. Now those same men were teasing her and calling her names, frustrated that she had settled down and that they couldn't have her. And maybe she'd grown soft over the years because some of those names really hurt.
Olive was off in her own world--or rather, in the women's bathroom. She'd been in there seemingly forever and all she was doing was checking her reflection in the mirror. With each growing day, Olive grew more and more confident in her beauty and her vanity, a pretty common Smith trait, was beginning to come through. Had Daria seen her daughter, she probably would've tried to stamp it out immediately.
Olive did manage to break herself away from her reflection for a few minutes so that she could play chess with one of the guys who came out with her and her family that night. While Olive didn't have the highest logic skill, she was still a very formidable opponent and the guy who challenged her underestimated her greatly. She ended up winning three games in a row and got too bored with the game before he could ask her to play a fourth time.
The Smiths stayed at the park until the early morning. Apparently, their needs didn't deplete very fast at all. Their company also stayed with them and it seemed like romance was floating in the air. In any case, men were lining up behind Bill trying to admire Daria or tell her a joke or impress her some way. It was annoying to both Bill and Daria but there was nowhere they could go in the park to avoid the seemingly endless onslaught of townies.
And then things got ugly. One of the townies who wanted to admire Daria and who got off on the wrong foot with Bill ended up poking the old man and went a little too far. The two ended up in a fist fight and while others cheered the fighters on, Daria just watched in horror. If this wasn't a playback of her college years, she didn't know what was.
Like a true Smith, Bill won the fight and embarrassed the man in front of Daria and everybody else. The man, Gordon something-or-other was shamed for both starting a fight with an elder and then losing the fight.
Meanwhile, Olive and Clay avoided drama by hanging out with a random teenage townie at the front of the park. Things were all calm on their front and Olive enjoyed spending the time with her little brother.
Overall, it was a pretty okay outing with its very bad moments and eh-okay moments. The Smiths were more than ready to head back home when their taxi finally picked them up.
Olive, feeling that the time she had before college was getting way shorter, started hanging out with more kids her age. She started with her cousin, Jordyn Smith. Jordyn was the oldest of Aiden and Chris' children. She also had a younger brother, like Olive, and the actually had a lot in common. The two were pretty close. Jordyn would also be going to La Fiesta Tech at the same time as Olive although, much to Olive's disappointment, Jordyn wasn't eligible to live in the Smith's Greek House. It was for potential heirs only and as the daughter of a spare (which Olive thought sounded very depressing), she couldn't participate.
Olive spent the rest of the week going out, having decided that by Friday, she'd be on her way out of her parents' house and on her way to college. She was also invited out several times by people who had heard about her from friends. She figured branching out at this stage couldn't do any harm. Her favorite hangout spot was the games secret hobby center, Games of Glory. There were loads of cool people there and more than enough games for everyone to play. It was the best.
Funnily enough, she ran into her aunt Callie on one visit and the two spent a little bit of time talking, not only about gaming, but about their lives and things like that. When Olive mentioned that she was about to set off for college, Callie gave her a high five and told her that she was going to have the time of her life. That got Olive very excited about it. She'd heard only good things about her aunt Callie, but she figured that was because Callie was her mother's twin.
"I did most of my gaming while I was living in the Greek House," Callie mentioned. Olive had almost forgotten about the Smith's Greek House, Annya Hoh Cham, but now it was the foremost thing in her mind. She had to make friends with the members currently living in the House, none of which were directly related to her. In fact, she'd never met either of them before in her life. Olive sighed; some start to college life.
Putting those thoughts aside, Olive settled down at one of the Don't Wake the Llama game boards. It was a game she considered herself to be very good at, especially thanks to those hours her family spent playing it in the family room. She was soon joined by two boys--which was exciting on its own, but they were both college boys and both seemed pretty interested in her.
After she beat both of them in a pretty rousing game, the three of them got to talking and it was obvious that both of them were flirting with her. Olive felt very flattered by the attention. She still hadn't had her first kiss and although she knew she was attractive, it was a little embarrassing to be going into college not having yet kissed anybody. So Olive turned her flirty attention to the blond boy whose name was Joe Leelaporn. An odd name, but one that she had fun saying.
Joe wasn't the only man to get attention from Olive that day either. Olive also ran into a warlock--a real one, in the flesh! She had to check first. What if he'd just been some dude cosplaying his favorite mage or something? You never knew--Olive was at a games hobby center after all. He turned out to be the same warlock that her grandmother had almost befriended all those years ago. Olive seemed pretty interested in magic, but Carver and Kittredge were relieved when she was dragged away from the conversation before the warlock offered to teach her spells.
She was dragged away by none other than Joe Leelaporn and Nawwaf Collin (who revealed that he was a member of the Annya Hoh Cham House). The boys were still competing for her attention and Olive still found it flattering so she let them take turns using pick up lines on her. At this point, she admittedly liked Joe better, but Nawwaf wasn't a bad guy at all. Why not give them an equal chance? That would be the fairest solution. Besides, she would be going to college soon--there was no reason to settle on a boy just yet. She'd be seeing them both at La Fiesta.
Of course, each boy got his own private time with Olive. Nawwaf turned out to be very forward, which Olive kind of liked. He was a nice guy and their conversation flowed easily enough, but halfway through when he was kissing her, Olive realized she was just using him as a free pass into the Annya Hoh Cham House. Olive felt kind of bad about that, but what was a girl to do? She was a Smith and she had to get into that Greek House no matter what. She was sure none of her other siblings were friends with any of the House members either; it was really up to her to get them all in!
Admittedly, Olive was also using Nawwaf to get Joe jealous. Maybe then he'd be as bold and forward as Nawwaf had been!
Olive went home later that night feeling very good about her life--romantic and otherwise--and looking towards college more than ever.
Back at home, it was time for Clay to grow up! Olive invited Jordyn over for the festivities in the hopes that all three of them could hang out together like the mature teenagers they were (and that Clay would be). Clay had a different idea however. He made a quick birthday wish and blew out the candles, eager to get a headstart on his mission.
The moment Clay transitioned, he rushed outside and headed straight for the expensive telescope the Smiths had hanging around in their backyard. Carver and Kittredge shot each other worried looks. More aliens in the Smith lineage? Bailey's fooling around with Stella Terrano had seemed like enough for them and because the children were only half-alien and turned out fine, things were okay on that front. Besides, Bailey wasn't the heir. Clay, however, had as much of a chance at being heir as his siblings did--but there he was. Blatantly searching for aliens in the night sky.
And soon enough, they answered his call, just as the scientists had feared. They watched helplessly as Clay was sucked up into the air by a beam of light and sucked inside an alien spacecraft. The other Smiths hardly even noticed Clay's sudden disappearance! They couldn't hear the roar of the spaceship over the loud, booming music that was playing inside the house. Clay was frightened. The inside of the spaceship was dark and cold and he wished he hadn't messed around with the extraterrestrial after all. Then someone laid a hand on his shoulder and it all went downhill from there.
Clay returned hours later but not soon enough for him. He couldn't even speak of what had gone down up in that spaceship, but all he knew was that he felt terribly violated. At least he'd be getting a scholarship for this potentially traumatizing experience.
Clay grew up to be a Knowledge-oriented sim (so a part of him did enjoy the alien experience), with Pleasure as his secondary aspiration. His lifetime want was to become a mad scientist and his predestined hobby is fitness. Clay's personality stats read 5/9/3/6/4, making him a Leo. He was turned on by hats and brown hair and turned off by formal wear.
Soon after Clay's alien ordeal, Olive headed off for college with thoughts of the Annya Hoh Cham House and Joe and Nawwaf in mind. Boy, she wasn't even in college yet and she had so much on her plate!
Clay left for college a few days after. He waited a bit to rest and recover from his probing encounter with the alien race. His parents were sad to see their last one leave the nest...
...but needless to say, it was nice to have the house completely to themselves for once.
