i'd go to sparknotes for a more detailed summary. but there's this woman who's an ex slave who thinks shes gonna be resold into slavery, so she's gonna kill her kids so they dont have to become slaves, but she only kills her oldest daughter and then...i forget how, but she doesnt become a slave again. they bury the daughter and mark her grave with the word 'beloved'. years later this woman comes back who calls herself Beloved and the woman thinks its the reincarnated spirit of the daughter she kills and every goes crazy and Beloved randomly dissapears in the end.
