So I get off work today to be greated with a voicemail that my father has had a heart attack.  He's doing ok (ish) now, but will have to stay for several days.  I'm still feeling a little knocked over.  I suck at grown-up crisis situations.  I just don't know how to behave around anyone over the age of twelve in the event of something terrible,

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's so scary when things like that happen out of the blue. My Father-in-law had a heart attack just three weeks ago, on July 4. If he hadn't gotten immediate CPR, he wouldn't be with us now. We were very worried and now thankful. I am very glad that your father is doing ok and hope that recuperation wont take too long.

Yikes, what poor timing. Glad to hear it worked out on your end.

I think my father's attitude is going to be the big hurdle. He and I are scary alike, and I know it's going to be hard for him to be positive. Thankfully he's married to a relentlessly cheerful woman.
