Sumire and Dimitri are both human, and while Sumire does have supernatural powers sort of related to creation, neither of them could handle God's voice.

America is a little more complicated; he's the human embodiment of a country, but he's not easy to kill, so it's your call on him.

It boils down to the idea that human's brains just aren't sturdy enough to handle God's voice, so she has Metatron do the talking for her. I can see it going either way with America.

I don't really know how it would go for trolls. Their religious beliefs are never really explained, though they are mere mortals ... but the ones in Micro have handled some pretty heavy shit, and some have stared into or communicated with Skaia, which is kind of like all that's good in the universe?

It's explained in the movie that human brains just can't handle God's voice directly, and that's why Metatron works as the Voice of God. I can see it being a complicated area for the trolls. Maybe "can hear her voice, but get a killer headache in the process"?
