So how do people go about getting retail jobs? I don't mean to sound like a douchebag, but I've always worked office jobs. I tried getting a retail job when I was in college and living in New York, but nobody took me on, saying I needed experience. Haha, was that a nice way of saying "you're not attractive enough"? I kid

when i applied to bookstores, i totally cheated and mailed in resumes and cover letters (i looked up the addresses online). sometimes i called the stores to ask the manager's name, but i never submitted an application in person. i was too chicken to do it, but i also feel as though mailing it in is more secure. some cashier could just leave it lying anywhere!
