"I'm fixing a hole where the rain comes in and it's making feel like..... %&@#!*"

Finally, I got fed-up with this issue that I have had since purchasing the boat back in August. Right over the helm, there was this large spot light handle that is used to help in steering the boat through heavy fog or dark nights. The handle is chrome and extends out about 10 inches right where you walk into the wheel house or upper cabin. I had ( Read more... )

I like crab cakes.
I like puffer fishes on the walls of silly crab shacks.
As I am typing this, Toot & the Maytals have popped into my random music player. They must know I am typing to you :)

Your cute nephews have a book about their Uncle Pirate Pete (I know, wrong uncle) and his priate ship. In the book he fixes a giant hole with sticky priate tape. Doesn't that come standard on the boat? Hee Hee. Maybe now is a good time to start being a vegan. That is a really cheap way to live. Or you could fish from the boat? Hunt? Maybe not. Good luck stinky!

I must disagree with previous comments and say that being a vegan is both expensive and time consuming. You have to search every ingredient list of every item, spend twenty mintues trying to get the waitress to tell you if there are REALLY no animal products (and half the time they still lie,) or spend the extra $5-$15 on a "certified vegan organic cruelty-free new age locally grown can of soup." Meat can get expensive, but ground chuck is $0.99/lb whereas tomatoes will run you up to $4/lb. Just saying.
You might want to think about getting a small, portable grill. They only run about fifteen bucks.

The meat supply in this country is not safe as evidence please note the recent closing of a CA cattle ranch and slaughterhouse by the FDA for improper condtions. How do you think that chuck got to be 99 cents a pound? Don't you think its worth the effort to ask all those questions to get good food? Its not hard in CA either as your state requires higher standards for organic products and has way more available than other areas. Farmers' markets are our friends and worth the effort. And grilled $4 tomatoes sound delicious.

I wasn't responding to the ethical or health related reasons for going vegan, I was responding to the statement that being vegan is a "really cheap way to live."
As to the ethical and health-related concerns of meat farming and the commercial food market in general, I think that's a pretty large subject to tackle in a blog response, even as long-winded as I am. :) Suffice to say that a suggestion I make to a friend is based on my interpretation of their distinct lifestyle and choices and may not reflect my own personal values.
