My immediate reaction was that she was messing with me too, because her voice sounded very ...childishly animated. But a couple of students said they knew something about her, and that she was 'a bitch from Texas,' if that makes a difference...

either way, it's an ugly thing to say.

I think they might have just be fucking with you.
you could, uh, googlestalk them, and then send their picture to a few people to ask around about them.
I'm sure you could get to the bottom of this one to set your mind at ease.
After all, what is the internet for if not for this?

Good point about google stalking them. That would be my first reaction... but my first reaction, and second and third for that matter, are usually never very emotionally healing. Oren, for whatever reason they did it, IT SUCKS. If they're homophobes, well, let's just hope they see the light, if they were just fucking with you, well... let's hope they see how hurtful that can be. It's good you shared that experience with us. Love ya! (Even if you can't bench press 350) (How many people can?!?)
