Faking Geek

I was chatting with someone I'd just met online last night about how I'm not really a geek; I like geek-y things, but don't actually know enough about most subjects of geekdom to be a true geek. small bit of advice - i keep downloading all these upgrades as they come. start them right before i go to bed once a week or so. it's still just as much of a tedious reverse engineering, but it's only a small piece of the tediousness at a time rather than that kind of backlog. you can set windows/firefox/avg/spybot etc to auto-upgrade periodically, although occasionally (especially if one keeps such odd hours as me) it will start doing that when you're in the middle of something because it tends to auto-search for updates in the middle of the night when MOST of the world is asleep.

What version of Windows are you running? I might have a license or two of another pay AV laying around I can give you if need be.

If I recall correctly from last night, XP Professional sp 1 (whatever that means :P)

I'm on sorrowsheart's computer because I don't feel like finishing the updating tonight, but I'll get it done. If I still have problems after that, I'll let you know. Thanks ^.^
