My 3 year-old got to bring home the mystery box from preschool yesterday. The instructions are simple - put something in the box, then give everyone 3 clues as to what's inside.

Hmm, that obvious?

This morning we walked inside her school while she carried it in her hand, and everyone was all sing-songy: She's got the Mystery Box! And of course she said right away, It's a barbie!

And then I had to say, Shush! Don't tell! Make them *guess*!

We tried all kinds of things. First it was Barbie. Then it was a plastic cat. Next a very long, soft fluffy snake, which I liked because I had to coil it several times to get it in the box. But she vetoed that, and tried to cram a really huge doll and then an equally huge ball, both which didn't fit. And then we went back to Barbie.

When we went over the clues (she came up with them all by herself), she said "it" for everything, and I asked her if she was sure - was it an "it" or a "she"? And she said, "It's a barbie!" (like I was the stupidest person in the world).

So I said, You're right!
And I told her to stick to "it."

Barbie is my guess too.
I agree that working in smaller chunks of time is better than trying to do it in big ones every so often. I think it's partly that the sub-conscious is working in between times, but also, I don't get so tired of concentrating that I poop out and try to force things.

I get overwhelmed by the idea of sitting down and working if I haven't seen my WIP in several days. There's this whole introductory phase, and that's usually why on Mondays I rarely get anything done. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are better, and Thursday and Friday, the poop factor starts to set in.

Also - nothing harder than finishing a chapter and trying to get the new one started.
