Yesterday my cousin and his family were coming to visit me from Toronto. They were going to spend a few hours with me, and then I was driving them to the airport. They are headed to a wedding in San Francisco. It's for my cousin-in-law's ONLY brother. Very important event ( Read more... )

I'm sorry Nitya :( I'm also sorry I did the whole racist schtick for the time I did, I hadn't really realized how ... for lack of a better word, retarded racists are, I'm also sorry if I ever offended you with any of my "racism" On a side note though U.S. Customs are always dicks I fucking hate them :(

I hear that you guys always have issues with customs as well.
It's kinda funny that one time Art and I were coming back from Canada, and I'm so used to them giving me a hard time that I was totally stunned when they completely harassed Art and totally didn't give a crap about me. I just don't understand what it is about him that did it. He told me before we got to customs that would happen too, I totally didn't believe it. Maybe something about that Clancy blood...
And when have you ever been "racist"?

It is the clancy blood, one time a drug sniffing dog picked out the only two bags, out of about 11, that were mine. That looked suspicious. Damn Customs. I was never really "Racist" towards anyone in particular, I just did the whole WPWW and 14 Words thing, plus there was the swastika that I hung in my room.

Oh ya, I remember that huge ass swastika. I thought it was just you trying to be different, more than an issue of you being racist. Shock value?

sorry to intrude.. and its probably too late anyway since they've already been denied, and most likely will be on file the next time they cross.. but i've had plenty of experience crossing the us/can (or rather the 'can/we' cross) border ( ... )

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely pass it on even if it is a little late for this time, but I guarantee it won't be the last ( ... )

no prob *smiles*

And your right, it is sad, family is family, regadless of borders. You'd think it would qualify as a humanitarian reason to allow it. I'd hate to think if they went by flight from Toronto right off the bat, this whole situation could have been by-passed, that is until this problem 'technicallity' manifested itself, like it just did.

I'm curious.. did your family actually need the visa? I never have. And I've actually stayed in the US for months at a time, almost a year once (2002-2003) after 9/11 (even though i should only have been allowed to stay for 6 months). And when I cam back to Canada, the only thing I had to do was reapply for OHIP (which was way easy and didn't cost a thing) But then again I'm Canadain born, might be different legalities if not born here, even if a permanent resident or a legal-n-able-to-vote-citizen.

I think there situation was definitely a little more complicated than most. Originally from India, they had lived in Australia for 3 years and then moved to Canada about 3 years ago. So they are definitely transnational citizens. I believe there citizenship was for India, or maybe Australia, I'm not quite sure, I do know it is not Canadian. They will be applying for it in June.

It is quite sad that US Customs does not offer any type of emergency visa that works within the same 24 hours of the incident. It is quite bothersome that even an emergency requires a 3 day wait. Completely retarded.

Now Canadian embassy, they're awesome. You go, you wait about an hour, you get your Visa. No problems at all. The US has a serious ego complex....
