I'm working my way through Persona 4 right now. DAMN is it a good game!

I've been curious about the Persona games. Haven't had a chance to, cause I've heard you have got to put some serious RPG time into them, and I don't know if I can invest in that kind of time.

That's true, this is a SERIOUS time sink. But 3 and 4 both have deep stories and characters you will care deeply about. Persona 4 is going above and beyond with the kind of topics it touches on, depending on which story avenues you persue.
