After work on Sunday night, Nancy went back to her apartment. She alternated between living there and living at Trans nowadays, mostly because of her job, school, and Marv

Pensive in the darkness of his rooftop, Mori lays silent and watches the skies. Watches the foreboding stormclouds rolling in on the horizon. Feels the cool breeze was over him and whip his shirt-bottom up, whispering a warning to him to seek shelter. He won't though. No force of nature should be ignored. As nature's calming effect begins to take hold of him, however, his mobile phone begins ringing 'A Pirate's Life For Me'.
"Unh." He groans, irritated. "I'm going to kick Jack for that."
Voice heavy in his throat, Mori accepts the call and raises the phone to his ear.
A muffled laugh fights past the lip he idly gnaws at as he listens carefully to what she has to say. He warms further, reminded of what it feels like...or what it might feel like...to have a friend.
"Lost your key? Or is there no one there to let you in?"
It's kind of comforting to be talking to him, too. He doesn't make her feel like a kid (probably because he's her age) or feel like he's protecting her. It feels as if everyone she's known in her life who hasn't tried to hurt her has taken on the job of keeping her safe, and while she appriciates it, she'd like to learn how to take care of herself.
She laughs, remembering when she used to play in the rain when she was little. Before her life was changed and her parents still paid attention to her.
"Could I - that's to say that, if you wouldn't mind-- It's totally okay if you do, though, since...you know...we've only known eachother f-for a few days now."
He fumbles with the words, stuttering and backtracking in an utterly ruined attempt at asking if she'd like to hang out. He sighs, about ready to hang both the phone and himself.

"Nancy! Oh..."
He parts the phone from his ear long enough to facepalm before returning to her.
"Yeah, I'm...uhm...sorry about that. Long day."
Slowly, a smile starts to tug at his lips. She's got a bad habit of doing that to him.

"Hrm? I'm outside."
He laughs again, hushed.
"Locked out of the house."

"Lost my key. I like the rain, though. It feels like--"
He pauses and laughs, hair flattening against his handsome face.
"It feels good."

He catches himself mid-whisper, suddenly embarassed as his lack of tact. All the looks of James Bond and all the charm of Mr. Bean.
"I'll, uh. I'll see you then...then. Sweet dreams, Nancy."
He dips his head down, muting the pattering rain and roaring thunder to catch the last of her voice.

She smiled, but there was a tone of seriousness in her voice, she didn't want him to get hurt.
"'Night, Mori."
