Warning: Documentary is tough to watch

Recently, I attended the International Deaf History conference in Toronto. There were over 325 participants and they all represented 25 different countries. Most (if not all) participants were all Deaf or Hard of Hearing with their own signed languages. Oh wow this is all so heavy. Thanks for writing it! The conference sounds amazing.

I am completely pro-choice, but it does make me sad that people would abort a baby if they knew it couldn't hear. But then I don't know if that makes me a hypocrite, because I really feel like "abortion on demand without apology" is the only way to go. I guess it's sad because it's a symptom of a problem with the larger culture. Just like when folks abort female fetuses.

yeah, that's kind of a double-edged sword. I"m all for supporting women's choices but I still will want to educate them on their idea of what a disabled child look like before they go ahead with it. Still...I'll end up looking like one of those overzealous jerks. Lose-Lose case here.
